About the Role
Flutter Technology is seeking an experienced Senior Solutions Architect to deliver and communicate architectural vision and roadmap within the GST Global Sports and Trading team within Global Platforms. This senior-level role requires comprehensive technical expertise, critical thinking, and leadership capabilities, with a strong focus on shaping technical vision and influencing architectural decisions that support scalability, resilience, and outstanding customer experience.
The candidate will work independently to solve problems, analyse
Architectural decisions from perspectives, and evaluate long-term implications across customers and business units. The role places emphasis on leading without formal authority, driving innovation, and mentoring while delivering sustainable, high-performance solutions.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in solutions architecture within large-scale enterprise environments, with strength in systems thinking, stakeholder influence, and the ability to translate complex technical concepts for diverse audiences. Proficiency in championing guidelines and driving positive organizational change is essential.

What you’ll do
Strategic Architecture & Vision
Deliver and communicate an architectural vision and roadmap that provides clear, achievable principles and direction, understood and supported across the business
Analyze architectural decisions from multiple perspectives and assess long-term effects on interested parties, timeframes, and business units
Think holistically about system interconnectedness, considering cause-and-effect relationships and potential consequences of technical decisions
Anticipate future trends and challenges, developing comprehensive strategies to achieve desired outcomes
Technical Leadership & Problem Solving
Lead technical designs and direction as part of the architecture team, utilising domain expertise to independently solve complex problems balancing strategic vision with delivery practicalities
Proactively identify and propose innovative technical solutions that address business needs with measurable positive outcomes
Champion standard methodologies and innovation by advocat new insights and solutions that improve efficiency and effectiveness
Drive creation of Tech Radars/Menus, maintain city plans, and promote structured Technical Decision Records
Influence & Collaboration
Lead and influence multi-functional teams (Product, Platform, Engineering, Infrastructure) to fulfill mutual aims, even without formal authority
Collaborate across multiple displines to ensure solutions align with overall strategy and create significant value for organizational goals
Act as a communication bridge between technical and non-technical teams, building trust and rapport with stakeholders at all levels
Work closely with engineering, product and operations to identify architectural improvements and longer-term strategies
Leadership & Development
Mentor and coach other Solutions Architects, sharing knowledge and expertise to develop their capabilities
Guide and mentor others on strategic thinking and decision-making, helping them refine their systems thinking
Take ownership of complex multi-team and multi-brand projects, demonstrating accountability for results and organizational impact
Give to continuous improvement of architecture teams' ways of working and processes
Communication & Stakeholder Management
Clearly and concisely explain detailed technical subject matter to audiences with varying levels of expertise
Tailor communication effectively to engage non-technical stakeholders, building strong relationships across diverse teams
Present architectural ideas confidently in meetings and presentations, inspiring others through compelling communication

What you’ll need:
Technical Expertise
7+ years of hands-on experience with solutions architecture in high-volume, enterprise environments
Comprehensive understanding of high-volume, highly available, transactional web applications with ability to solve complex technical challenges independently
Extensive experience with event-driven and reactive systems, message-based architectures, and designing for scalability
Proven experience with service-based approaches (REST, SOA, Microservices), APIs (REST, gRPC, GraphQL), Messaging systems (e.g., Kafka, Pulsar) and capacity modelling/forecasting.
Strong understanding of relational and non-relational datastores, network and web application security
Systems Thinking & Strategic Decision Making
Demonstrated ability to understand system interconnectedness and analyze information from different sources to advise decision-making
Experience evaluating potential consequences of technical decisions across various customers and timeframes
Consistent record of identifying potential risks and opportunities proactively
Ability to work independently on situations while knowing when to seek guidance
Leadership & Influence
Experience leading and influencing others to achieve common goals without formal authority
Proven track record to mentor and guide team members, sharing knowledge and expertise effectively
Track record of taking ownership of projects and influencing decision-making at organizational level

Excellent ability to communicate complex technical information to audiences with varying levels of expertise

Knowledge of software development lifecycles, multiple development styles and methodologies
Experience working in agile environments (Scrum/Kanban) and with distributed teams
