Senior Solution Architect, Operational Effectiveness – PCO

Role Overview:

As a Senior Solution Architect for the Operational Effectiveness (OE) group within Personal and Commercial Operations (PCO), you will have the opportunity to define technical solutions for initiatives that transform how Personal and Commercial Operations function into resilient, optimized, and efficient ways aligned with the North Star vision. This involves developing designs in accordance with the strategies and objectives of PCO.

If you are passionate about defining end-to-end solution architectures to minimize workflow complexities, have experience in technology initiatives and the technical solution architecture domain, are comfortable working in an agile environment alongside business and development teams, and possess strong written and verbal communication skills, this position may be a good fit for you.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define end-to-end technical solution architectures for PCO and OE initiatives using modern architecture patterns, industry best practices, RBC Enterprise standards, AI, and emerging technologies.
  • Develop current-state and target-state architectures.
  • Engage in hands-on prototyping when required.
  • Demonstrate strong and effective negotiation skills and stakeholder management.
  • Partner effectively and closely with Tech Design and Resiliency, OE, and PCO teams, as well as T&O Development and Architecture partners.
  • Provide architectural strategic thinking and develop scalable, secure, and reusable solutions.
  • Work across multiple projects and initiatives.
  • Identify and enable opportunities to make Business Managed Apps (BMA), Robotics Process Automation (RPA), and current PCO workflows more efficient and resilient.

Qualifications:

Must-have skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical field (e.g., engineering, physics, or mathematics), or equivalent practical experience.
  • Current or previous experience in Solution Architecture.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with subject matter experts.
  • Ability to work on multiple solutions in parallel.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle a variety of architecture-oriented tasks simultaneously.
  • Comfort working in an agile, deadline-driven, and results-oriented environment.
  • Understanding of operational workflows and straight-through processes.
  • Proven track record of experience with modern technologies such as REST APIs, Kubernetes, JavaScript frameworks and libraries, Java, .NET technologies and event-based technologies.
  • Passion for learning and developing both domain expertise and technical skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to influence and drive alignment across cross-functional teams.
  • Adaptability and willingness to embrace change.

Nice-to-have skills:

  • Knowledge of workflow orchestration platforms such as Camunda, Pega, and Microsoft Power Automate.
  • Knowledge of Pega RPA (Robotic Process Automation).
  • Experience in redesigning and modernizing legacy technologies.
  • Experience in using GenAI technologies (e.g., Copilot, Code Whisperer) for developing POCs or solutions.
  • Domain knowledge of banking operations.
