Title and Summary
Senior Software Test Engineer - Fraud Platform
Senior Software Engineer in Test (Senior QE)
Decision Data Caching (DDC) – Decision Management Platform
Overview
Join the Decision Data Caching (DDC) Grid team, part of Mastercard’s Decision Management Platform. DDC provides the high‑performance, low‑latency backbone that ensures critical decision data is always available, consistent, and fast at global scale.
The Decision Management Platform underpins multiple fraud, risk, and identity solutions across Mastercard. Our Java‑based, distributed platform processes billions of transactions per month in tens of milliseconds, using a multi‑tier, event‑driven architecture engineered for resilience and availability.
This role is ideal for a Senior QE / Engineer in Test who enjoys working close to the platform, shaping test strategy for complex distributed systems, and partnering with engineers to ensure quality from design through production.
Role & Responsibilities
As a Senior Software Engineer in Test, you will be a key quality owner for the DDC Grid platform, helping ensure correctness, resilience, and operational readiness of critical grid services.
Core Responsibilities
• Design, develop, and maintain test strategies and frameworks for distributed Grid services and backend platforms.
• Own end‑to‑end test coverage across functional, integration, regression, performance, and resiliency testing.
• Work closely with developers and technical leads during design and implementation to ensure testability and quality‑by‑design.
• Validate Grid behaviour across multi‑site / multi‑region deployments, including failover and recovery scenarios.
• Drive automation-first approaches, while complementing with targeted manual testing where required.
• Support release readiness, including test evidence, validation sign‑off, and rollout support.
• Contribute to production stability by validating fixes, configuration changes, and CRQs affecting the Grid.
• Participate in Agile / SAFe ceremonies, including planning, refinement, and retrospectives, bringing a quality and risk lens.
Technical Scope
You will work primarily on platform‑level testing, including:
• Distributed data grid services
• High‑throughput, low‑latency backend services
• Event‑driven and message‑oriented systems
• Cross‑site replication, consistency, and failover scenarios
• Release, upgrade, and configuration change validation
Required Skills & Experience
Core Skills
• Strong ownership mindset with the ability to work independently in complex systems.
• Proven experience as a Senior QE / Engineer in Test on backend or platform teams.
• Solid understanding of distributed systems concepts (replication, consistency, latency, failure modes).
• Hands‑on experience designing and executing automated tests for backend services.
Technical Experience
• Java and JVM‑based platforms (reading/debugging code, writing test utilities).
• API and service testing (REST/gRPC).
• Test automation frameworks and patterns (JUnit/TestNG, custom frameworks, test harnesses).
• CI/CD pipelines (e.g. Jenkins) and integrating automated quality gates.
• Containerised environments (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Data layer understanding: RDBMS (e.g. Oracle) and NoSQL / distributed stores.
• Messaging and eventing systems (Kafka, MQ).
• Familiarity with performance, scalability, and resiliency testing approaches.
Quality & Security
• Experience with non‑functional testing (performance, soak, failover).
• Awareness of secure coding and testing practices (OWASP, PCI considerations).
• Ability to review requirements and designs from a risk and quality perspective.
Nice to Have
• Experience testing data grids / caching platforms.
• Exposure to production incident support and post‑incident validation.
• Experience working in highly regulated or high‑availability systems.
Why Join DDC Grid?
• Work on mission‑critical infrastructure used by global payment and fraud systems.
• Influence quality at platform scale, not just feature level.
• Collaborate with experienced engineers solving hard distributed‑systems problems.
• Be part of a team where quality, resilience, and operational excellence matter as much as features.
