Role Overview:

Collins Aerospace is seeking an experienced and driven Senior Engineering Manager to lead a multidisciplinary team of Systems and Software engineers in developing cutting-edge Future Airborne Capability Environment (FACE) Product Line Applications. These innovative applications are a cornerstone of the Collins MosarcTM Software Ecosystem, supporting internal Collins operations, the broader RTX enterprise, and 3rd party customers to address their specific needs.

As part of a collaborative and dynamic team, the selected candidate will oversee activities such as requirements definition and analysis, design, development, integration, testing, verification, validation, and certification of software products within the FACE Product Line Catalog. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in systems and software development practices, Agile methodologies, military and commercial certification processes, and a proven track record of leading high-performing execution teams. This team operates at the forefront of Collins' advanced development processes, utilizing two cutting-edge Product Lines within the Avionics Common Development Environment (ACDE) Software Certification Development Operations (CDO) Pipelines.

Role is hybrid in either Cedar Rapids, IA or Huntsville, AL, but remote is possible based on candidate.

Product Summary:

The Future Airborne Capability Environment (FACE) delivers state-of-the-art software solutions, such as the MFMS-1000 for navigation, flight planning, and guidance, as well as the ARR-7000 Avoidance Re-Router for real-time hazard avoidance. These technologies are being deployed across emerging platforms and next-generation systems. Collins is also advancing its Transport Services Segment to enhance the connectivity of FACE system components, ensuring seamless integration and operational efficiency.

What You Will Do:

  • Technical direction: Candidate must be able to lead a team and apply sound engineering principles related to Avionics software development.
  • Project management: Candidate must be able to guide team members on the management of scope, schedule, and budget for engineering design activities. Candidate will be directly involved in project management and execution, including Earned Value and Risk Management.
  • Process management: Candidate must be able to guide team members on the utilization of design and development processes, military avionics certification, and ensure that the design activities are consistent with the product lifecycle development for new and existing products through internal guidance and adherence to external development processes outlined by our customers.
  • Bids and proposals: Candidate must be able to lead, review, and provide guidance to team members on bid and proposal activities, to include FAR Part 12, FAR Part 15, and TINA activities.
  • Personnel administration: Candidate must be able to make hiring decisions, performance assessment decisions, ensure management of personnel issues, and create a highly engaged and motivated team.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in project engineering/project lead role, with cost and schedule responsibility and strong background in Earned Value Management.

  • Experience with Agile development method
  • Experience with Ada, C, C++ programming languages
  • Experience with Atlassian suite of tools, including JIRA
  • Experience with DevOps Tooling and Processes to include pipelines

The salary range for this role is 132,400 USD - 251,600 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
