About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Software Engineer

In this role, you will

  • Lead moderately complex initiatives and deliverables within technical domain environments

  • Contribute to large scale planning of strategies

  • Design, code, test, debug, and document for projects and programs associated with technology domain, including upgrades and deployments

  • Review moderately complex technical challenges that require an in-depth evaluation of technologies and procedures

  • Resolve moderately complex issues and lead a team to meet existing client needs or potential new clients needs while leveraging solid understanding of the function, policies, procedures, or compliance requirements

  • Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues, and mid-level managers to resolve technical challenges and achieve goals

  • Lead projects and act as an escalation point, provide guidance and direction to less experienced staff
     

Required Qualifications

  • 4+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with business process or workflow tools (e.g., Camunda)
  • Familiarity with financial services technologies and banking processes
  • Hands-on experience with GenAI / LLM-based solutions (prompt engineering, RAG, API-based LLM integrations)
  • Experience building or integrating Agentic AI solutions (multi-agent workflows, orchestration, tool invocation)
  • Familiarity with AI governance, responsible AI, and enterprise security controls
  • Experience modernizing legacy applications and supporting cloud or platform migrations
  • Contribute to low to moderately complex initiatives within defined technology domains
  • Design, develop, test, debug, and document software solutions, including enhancements, upgrades, and deployments
  • Analyze and resolve technical challenges using a solid understanding of enterprise standards, procedures, and compliance requirements
  • Build and support secure, scalable applications to meet current and evolving business needs
  • Develop and maintain Java / Spring Boot–based microservices and RESTful APIs following established design patterns
  • Build modern, responsive user interfaces using React and supporting front-end technologies
  • Collaborate with peers, product partners, and mid-level managers in an Agile environment
  • Participate in code reviews, promote engineering best practices, and support production issues as needed
  • Mentor junior engineers, providing technical guidance and knowledge sharing
     

Job Expectations

  • 6+ years of relevant software engineering experience.
  • Strong hands-on experience developing enterprise or web-based applications using Java/J2EE
  • 3+ years of experience with Spring Framework / Spring Boot and related Java frameworks (e.g., Hibernate)
  • Experience designing and building microservices architectures and integrating via REST services
  • 2+ years of experience with NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB)
  • 3+ years of experience developing UI applications using React (including Redux or similar state management)
  • Proficiency in JavaScript, HTML, and CSS
  • Experience with API development, integration patterns, and unit testing of Java backend code
  • Familiarity with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 / 2.1
  • Experience using AI-assisted coding tools such as GitHub Copilot or similar developer productivity tools
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment tools (Jenkins, Gradle, UDeploy, Harness)
  • Experience in Agile / Scrum environments and test-centric practices (TDD / BDD)
  • Exposure to event streaming platforms such as Kafka
  • Experience managing applications in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, or PCF)
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills
  • Ability to work outside traditional business hours as required
