About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Software Engineer.

This is a senior-level developer role within the WIMT Data Services BI Reporting Team. The role is responsible for analyzing business and project requirements, preparing report design documents, developing high-quality BI reports, performing unit testing, and supporting QA and production deployments.

The role also involves conducting design and code reviews for artifacts developed by other team members to ensure adherence to standards and best practices. This position reports functionally to the Developer Manager and works closely with the US WIMT Data Delivery team to deliver operational and analytical reporting solutions.


In this role, you will:

  • Key Responsibilities

    Reporting & BI Development

  • Develop and deliver operational reporting solutions for Wells Fargo Advisors applications using MicroStrategy (MSTR), OBIEE, and/or Tableau.
  • Analyze business and report requirements and translate them into high-level and low-level design documents (HLD/LLD).
  • Design, build, and unit test reports and dashboards using MicroStrategy (On-Prem and/or Cloud) and other supported BI platforms.
  • Support QA cycles, UAT, and production deployments, including defect fixing and validation.
  • Data & SQL Development

  • Work extensively with relational databases to design, query, and optimize data used in BI reports.
  • Develop complex SQL queries, joins, subqueries, views, and stored procedures to support reporting and analytics needs.
  • Perform data validation and reconciliation to ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness of reported data.
  • Code Quality & Standards

  • Ensure strict adherence to MicroStrategy / OBIEE / Tableau coding standards and enterprise BI best practices.
  • Conduct design and code reviews for peer developers and provide constructive feedback.
  • Identify performance issues and proactively recommend optimization strategies at the database and reporting layer.
  • Delivery & Governance

  • Follow defined project plans and milestones and ensure timely delivery of all assigned deliverables — every time.
  • Proactively identify, raise, and escalate risks or roadblocks that impact development or delivery timelines.
  • Maintain and update project documentation, including:
    • Design documents
    • Ticket and defect logs
    • Status reports
    • Metrics dashboards
    • Governance and compliance artifacts
  • Collaboration & Communication

  • Collaborate closely with onshore (US-based) WIMT Data Delivery teams, QA teams, and business stakeholders.
  • Participate in requirement discussions, design walkthroughs, and review meetings.
  • Provide clear status updates and contribute to delivery metrics and reporting.
  • Required Skills & Qualifications

    Mandatory Technical Skills

  • Strong expertise in SQL and relational databases (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, Teradata, or similar).
  • Hands-on experience with MicroStrategy (On-Prem and/or Cloud).
  • Experience with at least one additional BI tool: OBIEE or Tableau.
  • Solid understanding of data modeling concepts, star/snowflake schemas, and reporting datasets.
  • BI & Development Experience

  • Proven experience in full BI report development lifecycle: requirements analysis → design → development → testing → deployment.
  • Experience developing enterprise-scale operational and analytical reports.
  • Familiarity with performance tuning of reports and SQL queries.
  • Soft Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication skills for working with global stakeholders.
  • Ability to mentor junior developers and lead reviews.
  • This is a developer role within the WIMT Data Services BI Reporting Team, which is responsible for analyzing project requirements, preparing report design documents, developing reports, and performing unit testing of the developed code.

    The role also includes conducting design and code reviews for artifacts developed by other team members to ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.

    This position reports functionally to the Developer and aligns closely with the US WIMT Data Delivery Team.

Required Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

Desired Qualifications:

  • Strong hands‑on experience with MicroStrategy (MSTR); experience with OBIEE and/or Tableau is required.
  • Strong database and SQL knowledge, including the ability to write and optimize complex SQL queries for reporting and data validation.
  • Experience in analyzing business and reporting requirements and translating them into technical designs (HLD/LLD).
  • Experience across the full BI report development lifecycle (design, development, unit testing, QA support, and production deployment).
  • Experience conducting design and code reviews for peer developers.
  • Familiarity with enterprise reporting standards, governance, and documentation practices.
  • Soft Skills

Job Responsibilities
