About Team:

As a Senior Software Engineer in the Cloud and Data Foundations organization in Walmart, you will play a pivotal role in owning , designing, building, and maintaining high-quality software solutions in the database platform engineering domain. We are seeking engineers who combine engineering excellence in datastore fleet management, automating operational workflows with a collaborative mindset and a passion for customer-centric problem solving. You will work closely with cross-functional partners to deliver robust, scalable, and maintainable solutions for the cloud and data foundations organization that power one of the world’s largest retail platform.

What you’ll do

• Own, Design and Deliver production-grade software for DB fleet management using Java / similar languages, adhering to best practices in code quality, performance, and maintainability.
• Own feature design, production readiness for various database life cycle management.
• Drive  operational efficiency and reliability for the SQL and NoSQL database fleet in Walmart.
• Owns and delivers new features for assigned business critical themes, from high level design through deployment and ongoing support.
• Collaborate with product managers, architects, and other stakeholders to contribute to technical decisions.
• Mentors mid-level engineers by conducting code, design reviews, sharing knowledge, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
• Support customer application teams and partner platform teams during incident resolution, demonstrating high customer empathy and a commitment to operational excellence.

What you’ll bring

• 7-8 years of professional experience in software engineering, with a proven track record of designing and delivering high-quality solutions in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in Java and advanced knowledge of Devops tools such as Jenkins, Ansible.
• Proven record of designing and delivering production grade lifecycle management tools/layers for various DB technologies.
• Advanced knowledge of at least two datastore technologies, such as Azure SQL, Postgress, Cassandra and CosmosDB
• Proven record of adhering to the tenets of  Operational excellence for datastore fleet management.
• Preferred Skill- Developing automation workflows with AI engineering frameworks like LangChain, vector databases, MCPs and large language models (LLMs) that  enables seamless orchestration of complex operational tasks.

Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 3 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
Option 2: 5 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
