A Senior Software Engineer specializing in modern web technologies responsible for architecting, developing, and maintaining scalable and reusable front-end component libraries utilizing Stencil.js. This role emphasizes the creation and stewardship of robust design systems that ensure consistency, accessibility, and efficiency across enterprise applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Web Component Libraries & Design Systems:
Lead the development and integration of reusable web components specifically using Stencil.js, enabling cross-framework compatibility and supporting enterprise-wide design systems. Implement and advocate for best practices in component architecture, accessibility, and performance optimization. Collaborate with product owners and UX/UI designers to translate business requirements into intuitive, maintainable web component solutions. - Stencil.js Expertise:
Have a strong foundation in Stencil.js, demonstrating a thorough understanding of the technology and its functionality. Create and maintain end-to-end solutions that navigate the complexities of Stencil.js and allow for a seamless web component integration experience in a multitude of different environments. Display comfortability in manipulating Stencil.js and its output at a low level to suit the needs of web component consumers. - Angular, React, and Vue:
Have the ability to both support and develop front-end solutions written in Angular, React, and Vue that integrate Stencil.js components, leveraging a deep knowledge of TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS. Show proficiency in all major front-end frameworks to architect Stencil.js integrations, troubleshoot potential integration issues with Stencil.js components, and create fully functional example and/or resource applications demonstrating the use of Stencil.js libraries. - Consulting & Support:
Provide technical guidance and consulting to development teams and stakeholders, ensuring alignment with organizational standards and emerging best practices. Mentor junior engineers, conduct code reviews, and facilitate knowledge sharing across teams. Support troubleshooting and optimization efforts for existing applications. - Continuous Improvement:
Promote continuous improvement by researching and adopting emerging tools, frameworks, and methodologies. Drive initiatives for quality assurance, monitoring, and secure development practices. - Collaboration & Leadership:
Build strong relationships with cross-functional teams, actively participate in agile ceremonies, and contribute to a high-performing, innovative engineering culture.
Required Skills & Experience
- Advanced proficiency in Stencil.js (4+ years), Angular, React, and Vue
- Experience architecting and implementing enterprise-grade design systems via both web component and CSS style libraries
- Strong understanding of modern front-end development practices, including unit and end-to-end testing, CI/CD, accessibility, security, and performant coding
- Excellent communication and consulting skills, with a track record of supporting and mentoring teams
- Ability to quickly make decisions in collaboration with subject matter experts and stakeholders
Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
$96,000 - $144,000
