The Senior Software Engineer exercises good judgment and is responsible for working with minimal instruction while making sound decisions to resolve moderately complex technical issues.
This role leads the design, development, and implementation of software components, systems, and sub-features. Additionally, this role collaborates with cross-functional teams on these deliverables and to improve system performance and functionality.
Note: This role may come into contact with confidential or sensitive customer information requiring special treatment in accordance with Red Hat policies and applicable privacy laws. This role is based in Raleigh NC.
What you will do:
Lead the design, development, and implementation of software components, microservices, and REST API endpoints to address business requirements and technical challenges.
Develop and share technical design proposals with other engineering leads to ensure alignment and best practices across the organization.
Lead delivery by coordinating activities of team members to ensure successful completion.
Regularly demo new features, products, and architectural improvements to the larger organization
Resolve complex system issues impacting software performance and scalability.
Lead code reviews and design discussions to ensure quality standards and best practices are met.
Implement automated tests and CI/CD pipelines to validate software integrity, upgradeability and performance.
Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance to improve team capabilities.
Adhere and follow defined Software Development Lifecycle (SLDC) processes.
Collaborate with technical and business stakeholders and global agile teams to understand and break down requirements into actionable units of work.
Proactively leverage AI technologies to streamline workflows, simplify processes, and enhance overall efficiency.
Proactively utilize and experiment with AI-assisted tools and technologies, such as code generation, auto-completion, and intelligent suggestions, to accelerate development cycles, enhance code quality, and support test design, automation, and peer review throughout the development lifecycle.

Annual salary is one component of Red Hat’s compensation package. This position may also be eligible for bonus, commission, and/or equity.
