Make a difference in the technology that is at the core of some of the most innovative and influential businesses in the world. Red Hat’s Multi-product and Engineering Experience (MPEX) Integrity Engineering organization is looking for a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer to join our team in India.
In this role, you will work on building and improving software systems that validate the reliability, integration, and resilience of Red Hat’s Hybrid Platforms. You will own and contribute to production-ready solutions by developing tooling, frameworks, and automation that support real-world scenarios across complex, multi-product environments.
Depending on team needs and individual interests, this role may focus on interoperability validation, platform upgrades, or Chaos and resilience testing.
The role requires strong software development skills, deep Linux or Unix expertise, and experience working with large, distributed, and layered systems. It also offers the opportunity to grow impact across customer-facing platform initiatives through close collaboration with engineering, QE, SRE, and product teams.
What will you do
Design, develop, and maintain software components, frameworks, and tooling that support platform reliability, integration, and resilience
Contribute to validation strategies for real-world scenarios including multi-product interactions, upgrades, and operational or failure conditions
Leverage AI-assisted tools and techniques to improve test development, failure analysis, and productivity across validation and reliability workflows
Implement and integrate automation into CI pipelines such as OpenShift CI to improve early detection of regressions and platform risks
Collaborate closely with engineering, QE, SRE, and product teams in a geographically distributed environment to identify gaps, troubleshoot issues, and improve overall system behavior.
Analyze failures uncovered through testing or automation, identify root causes, and contribute fixes or improvements in collaboration with owning teams
Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, or data pipelines to improve visibility into system health, test results, and trends
Write clear documentation for tooling, workflows, and operational processes to support broader adoption and maintainability
Stay current with industry trends, tools, and best practices related to distributed systems, cloud platforms, and software reliability
Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and agile ceremonies to continuously improve engineering quality and team effectiveness
What will you bring
5 to 8 years of experience as a software engineer or similar technical role
Strong software development skills with hands-on experience in Python or another modern programming language
Solid Linux or Unix system administration and networking fundamentals, including experience with Git-based workflows
Experience with containers and orchestration platforms such as Red Hat OpenShift and Kubernetes
Experience working with large-scale distributed systems or complex platform architectures
Familiarity with CI systems and automation workflows, preferably using OpenShift CI or similar platforms
Ability to debug complex issues across code, infrastructure, and distributed environments
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to collaborate effectively across international teams and time zones, including asynchronous work environments.
Experience working on platform tooling, test frameworks, or infrastructure automation
Familiarity with virtualization technologies such as KVM, VMware, or Libvirt
Knowledge of open-source development models and communities
Experience working in agile development environments
Interest or experience in areas such as interoperability, Chaos testing, or resilience and failure testing
