LastPass is looking for a Senior Software Engineer (PHP):
In this role, you’ll collaborate with an Agile development team to build a product that serves over 5 million active users. You will take full ownership of critical features and continuously enhance them to help secure our customers’ digital lives and work.
About the Team:
You’ll join the Core Services Cluster at LastPass - a team of experienced, motivated engineers dedicated to building the core foundations of our platform. This cross-functional group takes on complex projects each quarter, continuously making LastPass better than ever.

Who will you work with?
You will collaborate with engineers, product managers, and designers to shape the future of the product by defining an effective strategy for software verification. Your role is to enable the scrum team to deliver high-quality software. In addition, you will work closely with agile teams responsible for developing and maintaining authentication-related features. You will also partner with the support team to assess and evaluate incoming issues, determine their severity, and help resolve customer problems quickly and efficiently, ensuring both speed and quality.
What are some of the exciting challenges you will be working on?
- Develop and deliver high-quality code, including testing and maintenance within your team’s domain
- Take full ownership across all stages: planning, design, development, shipping, and ongoing maintenance
- Debug and troubleshoot issues to support users effectively
- Actively engage in team activities: drive discussions, follow and advocate guidelines, highlight best practices, and continuously learn new techniques
- Share knowledge and collaborate: review pull requests, discuss technical implementations, mentor team members, and propose product improvements
- Participate in requirement analysis, planning, and estimation, collaborating with product owners and UX designers to meet deadlines
- Ensure non-functional requirements (e.g., scalability, fault tolerance, high availability) are properly analyzed and addressed
- Balance costs and benefits: avoid unnecessary complexity while preventing technical debt
- Maintain internal technical documentation, comply with processes, and contribute to community-driven decision-making and technical roadmap
- Coach and mentor junior and mid-level engineers, fostering growth and knowledge sharing
What does it take to work at LastPass?

Experience developing web applications in PHP, including applying design patterns

Strong understanding of web infrastructure: HTTP, REST, and related technologies

Familiarity with OOP principles and best practices, including SOLID and Clean Code

Knowledge of security practices in PHP, such as preventing XSS, SQL Injection, etc.

Basic knowledge of Docker and general web security concepts

Effective communication skills in English, both written and verbal

Ability to transfer knowledge and mentor others, fostering team growth

Collaborative team player, able to efficiently contribute to complex tasks
- Fluency in English with excellent verbal and written communication skills
It's great, but not required:
- Experience in front-end development
- Experience with .NET
