Senior Software Engineer - Node.Js

Who you’ll be working with

We build the solutions dreamed up by the product and design teams. Our goal is to deliver working software every two weeks. We are a large team that spans across three global offices, but we collaborate and integrate front- and back-end components and interfaces to provide a user-centered experience through web and mobile platforms.

What you’ll be doing

• Design, develop, and maintain high-performance, scalable server-side applications and network components using Node.js.
• Architect and implement robust backend services, ensuring optimal performance of the central database and responsiveness to frontend requests.
• Design and implement RESTful APIs or GraphQL APIs to support diverse business processes and third-party integrations.
• Implement effective security protocols, data protection measures, and storage solutions to ensure application reliability.
• Develop high-performance applications by writing testable, reusable, and efficient code.
• Collaborate with frontend developers on the integration of user-facing elements with server-side logic.
• Run diagnostic tests, repair defects, and provide technical support for production environments.
• Document Node.js processes, including database schemas, and prepare technical reports.
• Participate in code reviews and architecture discussions, and mentor junior developers.
• Be available occasionally to handle urgent production issues outside normal business hours.

What you’ll need to be successful (Requirements)

Must have skills:

• 5+ years of engineering experience with a heavy focus on Node.js development.
• Extensive knowledge of Node.js frameworks such as NestJS, ExpressJS, or Fastify.
• Strong proficiency in JavaScript (ES6+) and TypeScript.
• Solid experience with RDBMS such as PostgreSQL and/or MySQL.
• Hands-on experience with ORM frameworks such as Prisma, TypeORM, or Sequelize.
• Solid knowledge of API versioning, rate limiting, and API security.
• Experience working with Git-based workflows including branching, merging, pull requests, and code reviews.

Should have skills:

• Working knowledge of core cloud services (AWS, GCP, or Azure) including Compute/Serverless, Storage, CDN, and Managed Databases.
• Solid understanding of API performance, data modeling, and backend optimization.
• Ability to design scalable schemas and optimize complex queries.
• Experience with secure authentication, authorization (JWT, OAuth), and data protection.
• Experience with socket programming for real-time applications.
• Experience writing unit and integration tests using Jest, Mocha, or Chai.
• Excellent debugging, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
• Ability to recommend and implement technical and process improvements proactively.
• Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks.

Nice to have skills:

• Experience integrating with established eCommerce or CMS platforms (e.g., Shopify, BigCommerce, Sanity, or ContentStack)
• Familiarity with DevOps concepts such as CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker), and Infrastructure as Code.
• Familiarity with NoSQL databases such as DynamoDB or Redis for caching and high-speed retrieval.
• Experience working with microservices, monorepos, or serverless architectures.
• Experience with payment service integrations and database migration tools.
• Exposure to building Agentic applications or AI-driven backend services.
• Experience mentoring or managing junior-level developers.
• Familiarity with frontend technologies (HTML5, CSS3) and frameworks like React or Next.js to facilitate seamless backend integration
