We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer to drive our ambitions to grow our Commercial Cards business, focus on improving the client experience, and change how we work. What you’ll do
Designing and building scalable, modular, and well-tested back-end and full stack applications, with a strong emphasis on maintainability and performance as the codebase and business continue to scale.
Ensuring software is built in a way which is consistent with, and exploits where possible, the collective frameworks, patterns and practices that exist across the wider Engineering community.
Applying advanced software engineering principles and design patterns (such as SOLID, CQRS, event-driven architecture, and domain-driven design) to deliver robust, scalable solutions.
Understand and apply industry best practices, foster knowledge-sharing to provide solutions for complex business problems where no precedent may exist and ensure implementation of solutions where appropriate.
Demonstrating a relentless focus on delivering business value through sound engineering methods, rigorous code reviews, and continuous improvement, with a particular strength in backend architecture, API design, and distributed systems.
What you’ll need:
Typescript, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Node.js, Microservices, containerisation and orchestration with Docker and Kubernetes, event-driven architecture using Kafka, gRPC, Express; and responsive web design in addition to knowledge of RESTful APIs and web services;
Strong commercial experience in the full software development lifecycle
React and state management libraries (redux, react-query);
Source code repositories and change management tools (e.g. Git);
Agile development practices and test automation (Unit/Integration/E2E testing – Jest/Testing Library/Cypress, Playwright);
Build processes and release automation (Azure Pipelines, Nexus);
Experience of agile development practices, DevOps pipelines, continuous integration / deployment, test automation and the E2E software development lifecycle.
