We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Sync Config team, a core team in HubSpot’s Data Hub. Data Hub is one of the fastest-growing parts of HubSpot’s ecosystem and helps organizations elevate their data through integrations, AI-powered data management, etc.

Our Sync Config team is mainly working on two products:

  • Data Sync: a real-time two-way sync platform that connects external SaaS tools with HubSpot’s CRM. On top of that, the team is also working on 
  • Data Studio: a brand new data ingestion platform, from where data can be combined, enhanced and activated upon, which is now more relevant than ever in the current AI age.

They are responsible for building and maintaining the platform layer that lets both customers and HubSpot product teams configure, manage, and understand data synchronization at scale. We simplify the configuration experience for users while enabling deep integrations across HubSpot through reliable, high-performance backend services.

In this role, you'll

  • Build and maintain backend services and APIs that power both our Data Sync and Data Studio products 
  • Work on distributed systems that process large volumes of data efficiently.
  • Develop monitoring and observability tools to ensure platform health.
  • Work in a high-trust environment with product ownership and autonomy.
  • Collaborate with teams across app integrations, product, and design.
  • Mentor more junior engineers when needed.

We're looking for people who:

  • Have professional experience building and operating backend services 
  • Deep knowledge of one primary programming language (Java or Go), with the ability and motivation to learn a second language on the job 
  • Understand distributed systems, data flows, and API design.
  • Have demonstrated the ability to solve complex engineering problems with empathy and customer focus.
  • Communicate clearly and collaborate effectively with cross-functional, distributed teams.
  • Take ownership, think proactively, and enjoy figuring things out in ambiguous spaces.
  • Thrive in small, customer-driven teams (3–5 engineers).
