Primary Responsibilities
- Lead the creation of new products and services as part of the Digital Product Engineering team, ensuring solutions meet business needs and drive value for end-users.
- Design and develop robust, maintainable software components aligned with enterprise architecture standards.
- Collaborate closely with end-users, such as lawyers and associates, to gather requirements, validate solutions, and ensure products are aligned with real-world business challenges.
- Promote and implement agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, Lean) to enhance team productivity, adaptability, and continuous improvement in software delivery.
- Ensure software quality through unit testing, code reviews, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for third-line support, resolving complex technical issues and assisting with escalations to vendors as needed.
- Partner with AI and Innovation teams to prototype and productionise AI solutions
- Lead by example, providing guidance, training, and support to other team members to build technical capability and ensure robust coverage of key technologies.
- Work closely with product owners, architects, and business analysts to translate business needs into technical solutions
- Participate actively in program planning, roadmap development, and delivery to ensure projects are delivered on time and to specification.
- Champion modern engineering principles including DevOps, automation, IaC, and observability.
- Contribute to software engineering standards, secure coding practices, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Advocate for and embed best practices in software engineering, fostering a culture of quality, innovation, and continuous learning within the team and the wider firm.
Qualifications, Experience and Skills
- Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology or equivalent
- 3+ years development experience
- Recent experience as a Developer for a web product or service
- “Full stack” development
- End-to-end product lifecycle; from inception through to long term maintenance and support
- Agile delivery environment, e.g. scrum, Kanban
- Microsoft technologies, e.g. C#, dotnet core, Azure
- Cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP) and containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Exposure to AI/ML frameworks (OpenAI, Azure AI, or similar).
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, Git, Terraform, and secure coding practices.
- Web technologies, e.g. HTML, JavaScript, React, Vue
- Automation technologies, e.g. terraform, automated testing
- Integration technologies, e.g. REST, SOAP, JSON, XML
- Data technologies, e.g. SQL, T-SQL
- Ability to translate complex scenarios and problems for consumption by a wider audience, both verbally and written
