JOB TITLE: Senior Software Engineer – Engineering Team Manager
SALARY: £70,929 - £86,691per annum
LOCATION: Halifax or Leeds
HOURS: Full-time – 35 hours per week
WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at one of our offices stated above.

This role is crucial in ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality software and platforms that make a real impact on our customers, businesses, and communities. You will be part of a dynamic team that values collaboration, continuous learning, and the pursuit of excellence.
Within the Homes Platform we're responsible for the UK’s biggest mortgage book. We are on a journey to transform our core technology and the technical capabilities of our colleagues. The Digital lab are responsible for a products that fully align to modern engineering standards - hosted on Azure cloud infrastructure, using a micro-service architecture, with JavaScript and TypeScript built applications using React and Node.js.
Over the last 2 years we have launched new digital journeys on modern JavaScript frameworks, developed detailed suites of customer journey and analytics, transitioned workloads onto the Cloud and incrementally modernised and simplified our technology estate.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
On a day to day basis you will:
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful delivery of the product roadmap.
Take hands on ownership for unblocking technical challenges and proving out new patterns and technical solutions ready for full use within the team.
Act as a player-coach, build others by developing and mentoring engineers on how to achieve the team and personal goals
Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and high performance.
Ensure the team is equipped with the necessary tools and resources to succeed.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
We understand that no one can be an expert in every aspect of engineering, so if you have experience in technical leadership we would like to hear from you. Specifically we’re looking for:
Strong technical background in full stack Javascript/TypeScript development (ideally Node and React)
Proven experience in leading, coaching and managing engineering teams including offshore.
Ability to build strong relationships and demonstrate a passion for solving real-world problems with technology.
Experience of designing technology solutions that are reliable, scalable and performant.
Any experience of this would be useful:
Knowledge of cloud platforms (Ideally Azure) and source control platforms (such as GHE).
Familiarity with DevOps tooling, including continuous integration pipelines and containerisation.
