Join the firmware design team to develop embedded controls for the next generation of high-end, consumer-focused, and energy-efficient appliances. This role provides opportunities for learning, technical challenges, and professional growth for software engineers.

The team applies modern software development practices to embedded systems, including Agile methodologies, Test Driven Development (TDD), Continuous Integration, and automated testing.

The position focuses on developing innovative software solutions, producing high-quality code, and delivering reliable embedded software on schedule.

How You'll Create Possibilities

  • Develop and design software that runs laundry platforms.
  • Ensure software solutions meet agency requirements, such as UL software certification.
  • Drive design and own implementation for the next generation of connected features for commercial and residential laundry businesses.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand technical requirements and design APIs for laundry products.
  • Participate as a key member in the code review process for laundry platforms, including but not limited to washers and dryers.
  • Develop production code in C and tooling in scripting languages such as Lua and JavaScript.
  • Work within a resource-constrained environment with generally no heap; platforms primarily run bare metal, with some projects utilizing an RTOS.
  • Utilize Git for version control.
  • Operate within an Agile development environment.
  • Apply Test Driven Development (TDD) practices as part of the development process.
  • Use continuous integration systems to automate builds and identify issues early.
  • Participate in ongoing learning and professional development opportunities, including internal and external training.
  • Contribute to the development of connected appliances, including the creation of highly de-buggable development platforms and the enablement of Internet of Things (IoT) functionality.

What You'll Bring to Our Team

  • B.S. Electrical, Computer, or Software Engineering or equivalent.
  • 5 or more years of Embedded Software Development.
  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
  • Experience with a formal software development process (such as Agile).
  • Experience of Embedded Software Development Tools & software languages: C.
  • Experience with theory and use of Test Driven Development (TDD).
  • Demonstrated passion for software and learning.
  • Detailed GEA software processes knowledge.
  • Excellent technical communication skills to interact with international teams.
  • Demonstrated experience with UL60730.
  •  Ability to physically work onsite at Appliance Park.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong project planning, project leadership skills, and experience.
  • Software Languages: C++, Lua, JS.
  • Experience working with a global software development team.
  • Experience with AI/Machine learning.
  • Experience using emulators, oscilloscopes, simulators, and software analysis tools.
  • Experience developing in a Mac/Linux environment.
  • Experience with resource-limited microcontrollers.
