We’re hiring a Senior Software Development Engineer to help build the next generation of Zillow’s analytics and insights platform.
This role is ideal for an engineer with strong software engineering fundamentals and experience in data platforms or data engineering. Experience with AI/LLM-powered workflows is preferred. You’ll work on high-impact platform problems at the intersection of trusted metrics, self-service analytics, metadata, and AI-powered workflows.
You’ll help make it easier for teams across Zillow to onboard to the platform, discover trusted data, ask better questions, and build insights without reinventing tooling or redefining metrics. Current work includes efforts around semantic consistency, onboarding, discoverability, and operationalizing AI-ready data workflows.
Build and evolve platform capabilities for reporting, dashboards, interactive applications, and AI-powered analytical experiences
Develop systems that improve how users discover, understand, and use trusted data and metrics
Contribute to the metrics, metadata, and governance foundations that enable reliable self-service analytics at scale
Improve analytics infrastructure, warehouse and compute integrations, and platform developer experience
Design and ship AI-enabled workflows that simplify onboarding, insight creation, and interaction with the data platform
Apply LLMs pragmatically in product and developer workflows to improve usability, quality, and productivity
Own projects end-to-end, from design through production rollout and adoption
Partner with engineers, data scientists, product managers, and business stakeholders to deliver scalable analytics solutions used across Zillow Group
Help define technical standards, golden paths, and reusable patterns that raise consistency and trust across the analytics ecosystem

Required
Strong software engineering experience, including designing and shipping production systems
Experience in data engineering, data platforms, analytics infrastructure, or warehouse and compute systems
Experience building scalable, reliable platform capabilities used by multiple teams
Ability to work through ambiguity and drive technical solutions in a fast-moving environment
Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to influence across teams
Experience using and operating Databricks
Preferred
Experience building AI/LLM-powered product or developer experiences
Familiarity with BI tools such as Tableau, Amplitude, Power BI.
Familiarity with prompt engineering, evaluation, or guardrails for AI-assisted workflows
Experience with semantic layers, metrics platforms, metadata systems, or self-service analytics tooling
Product sense for internal platforms, including reducing friction, improving adoption, and making complex systems intuitive for users
