Senior Software Engineer, API Governance

At NVIDIA, the Cloud Engineering Services organization builds and operates secure, scalable foundational cloud services and sets API standards. What You Will Be Doing:

  • Defining API Standards: Define and maintain NVIDIA's API standards and lifecycle guidelines for HTTP and gRPC services, while handling the centralized API registry for internal and external collaborators.

  • Developing Tooling & Automation: Create tooling within CI/CD systems to generate and validate API specifications (Protobuf, OpenAPI v3) and automatically publish specs to the registry.

  • Fostering Collaboration: Collaborate with product and engineering teams to encourage the usage of API standards and ensure consistent implementation across the company

What We Need to See:

  • Bachelor's, Master's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.

  • 5+ years of experience building distributed systems using Golang, Java or Python

  • API Specification Experience: Comprehensive understanding of API specifications (OpenAPI, Swagger, Protocol Buffers, JSON Schema, AsyncAPI, GraphQL), with extensive experience defining standards for gRPC and HTTP APIs (schema design, message versioning, naming conventions, asynchronous processing models, and error handling).

  • Governance Tooling: Experience designing tooling for API governance, including Protobuf linters, breaking-change detection, and automated generation of stubs/mocks within CI/CD pipelines.

Ways to Stand Out from the Crowd:

  • Cloud Infrastructure Experience: Experience with AWS infrastructure and modern cloud-native technologies, specifically Kubernetes, Envoy, Prometheus, and Grafana.

  • Technical Leadership: Background in technical leadership (Architecture or SRE focus) combined with technical writing skills to guide teams and document standards.

Your base salary will be determined based on your location, experience, and the pay of employees in similar positions. The base salary range is 148,000 USD - 235,750 USD for Level 3, and 184,000 USD - 287,500 USD for Level 4.

You will also be eligible for equity and benefits.
