What You'll Do:
Design, develop, and test high quality software systems using Python or Kotlin;
Support product development lifecycle by collaborating with cross-functional teams;
Identify project, process, technology or business issues and drive solutions for issues;
Setting and maintaining code review and design standards for team;
Independently identify the right solutions to solve ambiguous, open-ended problems;
Own and deliver projects in service of quarterly goals on the team;
Incorporate needs and opinions from stakeholders, advocating for ideas and initiatives;
Provide guidance on core application architectural decisions and leading implementation;
Define and deliver well-scoped milestones for a project, technical specification and be a technical lead for projects on the team;
Engineering and integrating Affirm’s systems with third-party servicing solutions such as AWS;
Provide support on questions around the software systems and the tooling built around the app;
Debugging code issues utilizing data and stack trace analysis; and
Actively level up less-experienced members of the team by helping them with their craft, providing guidance, and setting a good example.

What we look for:
Software application development including Python or Kotlin;
OLTP and OLAP databases including SQL, NoSQL and relational databases;
Architecting and maintaining complex distributed systems;
Developing and deploying projects using Control, Agile Methodology or Code Reviews;
AWS cloud computing resources including Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL, AWS Lambda or SQS;
Containerization (Docker and Kubernetes);
Utilizing modern testing frameworks to write and maintain unit, integration and functional tests; and
Debugging code issues utilizing data and stack trace analysis.

Employees new to Affirm typically come in at the start of the pay range. Affirm focuses on providing a simple and transparent pay structure which is based on a variety of factors, including location, experience and job-related skills.
Base pay is part of a total compensation package that may include equity rewards, monthly stipends for health, wellness and tech spending, and benefits (including 100% subsidized medical coverage, dental and vision for you and your dependents.)
USA base pay range (CA, WA, NY, NJ, CT) per year: $190,000-$240,000
USA base pay range (all other U.S. states) per year: $180,960-$219,000
