WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?

Application Support & Maintenance team is looking for a talented and passionate IBMi COBOL and RPG senior developer to join us. As a Sr. Software Developer, you will be part of a diverse, autonomous, development and maintenance team to deliver system enhancements and support these solutions in production.

This position is responsible for the development and support activities for RBC Caribbean ATM and POS Channels processing. Partners across IT and with assigned business line(s) to assess, research, and analyze business, technical and system needs to resolve business systems issues. Recommends technology solutions that meet sponsor / stakeholder needs. Provides senior production support to the applications and their users and provides off-hour production support.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?  

  • Development in Cobol, RPGLE, .net
  • Work in agile teams and attend agile ceremonies.
  • Work closely with Senior Support and development teams
  • Production on-call support
  • Manage the implementation of multiple concurrent initiatives of varying complexity in a time efficient manner.  Monitor and control activities according to plan.  
  • Continuously identify potential issues, conflicts, and risks.  Analyze, mitigate and escalate where appropriate
  • Optimize, automate, simplify production systems
  • Leverage Ai tools and Ai Ops to maximize developer productivity
  • Develop and execute on end-to-end change management plans and plan and execute all communication related to these.
  • Collaborate and contribute on cross-functional enterprise initiatives and manage the effective implementation of assigned deliverables.
  • Establish strong working relationships across business units and platforms to build influence and impact with key business partners. Collaborate with groups to define and achieve deliverables and ensure initiatives are effectively integrated into RBC procedures and processes.
  • Contribute to ongoing administrative program activities as required.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?

Must have:

  • Undergraduate degree coupled with experience in application development and support.
  • A strong understanding of IBMi platform and programming in COBOL and RPG.
  • Ability to build queries using QUERY400 and SQL
  • Familiar with source code management tools like ALDON LMi and/or ARCAD
  • Understanding various interfacing mechanisms like FTP, SFTP, C:D, Universal Command, TCP/IP etc.
  • Experience handling production support activities for applications that require 24*7 availability.
  • Demonstrated ability in written and oral communication skills along with strong presentation skills. Ability to determine the information and communication needs of the stakeholders and project.
  • Strong organizational, project management and time management capabilities with a highly collaborative mindset
  • Deadline-driven and results-oriented and the ability to demonstrate sense of urgency; able to meet consistently high-quality standards while handling a variety of tasks and deadlines simultaneously.

Nice-to-have:    

  • Knowledge of payment (Visa, MasterCard) and financial systems
  • Experience in a C400, RIBS application
  • Experience in Card applications
