Senior Skid Design Engineer – Separator Skids (Dairy & Pharma)

Bengaluru Full time
Diploma/Degree in Mechanical Engineering

Responsibilities / Tasks

As a Senior Skid Design Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering complete engineering solutions for hygienic separator skids used in Dairy and Pharmaceutical applications. You will collaborate with global experts, regional teams, and India‑based sales and execution functions to ensure every design meets the required hygienic standards, process needs, and GEA quality expectations.

Engineering & Design

  • You will design and develop PFDs and P&IDs that accurately represent hygienic process requirements for Dairy and Pharma systems, ensuring that all flow concepts, instrumentation details, and process interfaces meet the expected global design standards.

  • You will create complete skid layouts, including equipment positioning, frame structures, and hygienic pipe routing, while ensuring cleanability, accessibility, CIP/SIP integration, and full alignment with GEA hygienic design principles.

  • You will ensure all designs comply with relevant standards such as ASME, ANSI, ASME BPE, and internal GEA engineering guidelines, maintaining high accuracy and consistency across projects.

Pre‑Sales Engineering

  • You will support the Sales team by preparing conceptual P&IDs, preliminary layouts, and technical inputs required during the proposal stage for Dairy and Pharma customers.

  • You will participate in customer discussions to clarify process requirements, help evaluate application suitability, and explain the integration of separator skids into their plant designs.

  • You will ensure that all pre‑sales engineering deliverables reflect realistic, hygienic, and technically feasible solutions that Sales can confidently use in their techno‑commercial offers.

Order Execution and Post‑Sales Support

  • You will lead detailed engineering once an order is received, including finalizing P&IDs, developing 3D skid models, preparing BOMs, and issuing fabrication drawings in line with hygienic design expectations.

  • You will collaborate closely with manufacturing teams, suppliers, and fabrication partners to ensure that all skids produced in India meet GEA’s quality, hygiene, and performance standards.

  • You will support FAT, commissioning, and customer handover processes by providing technical clarifications, resolving design questions, and ensuring that the engineered solution performs as expected.

Localization and Adaptation of Global Designs

  • You will adapt global separator skid platforms for the Indian market by evaluating local manufacturing capabilities, optimizing cost without compromising hygiene, and ensuring compliance with regional requirements.

  • You will work with supply chain and vendors to identify suitable hygienic components that meet global specifications while improving cost-effectiveness and manufacturability.

  • You will contribute to enhancing GEA’s competitiveness in India by developing localized engineering solutions that remain aligned with global engineering philosophy.

Standardization and Continuous Improvement

  • You will actively participate in the creation and updating of standardized design modules, engineering templates, and process documents for separator skids.

  • You will integrate lessons learned from ongoing projects into improved engineering practices that enhance efficiency, reduce complexity, and maintain consistency across all delivered skids.

  • You will collaborate with global engineering and product management teams to maintain alignment with international design standards and product strategies.

Technical Documentation

  • You will prepare all required technical documentation including hygienic layouts, instrumentation specifications, materials of construction, and regulatory documents needed for Dairy and Pharma applications.

  • You will ensure that all engineering documents follow GEA’s internal quality processes and meet customer expectations for detail, accuracy, and regulatory compliance.

Your Profile / Qualifications

  • You should hold a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, supported by 5–10 years of experience specifically in designing hygienic skids for Dairy or Pharmaceutical applications.

  • You must have strong experience related to separator skids or similar hygienic process and rotating-equipment-based skids.

  • You should be proficient in Autodesk Inventor or CADISON and have a solid understanding of hygienic piping, CIP/SIP concepts, instrumentation integration, and standards such as ASME, ANSI, and ASME BPE.

  • You should bring strong communication and coordination skills to work effectively with customers, global teams, and local manufacturing partners, while demonstrating a structured, detail-oriented approach suitable for regulated industries.
