Your New Role and Responsibilities

The JCSE team supports the advanced systems at Headquarters Joint Operations Command (HQJOC)—a critical hub for multi-agency collaboration and command of Australian Defence Force operations. With 113 integrated operational spaces, HQJOC relies on seamless system coordination to ensure mission success.

Join a dynamic team of SharePoint System Administrators and Developers, supporting a highly customised SharePoint environment integrated with third-party products such as Nintex, Power BI, NC Protect, and Amrein web parts, alongside significant bespoke customisations.

The role involves close collaboration with internal stakeholders and developers to understand requirements and assist the development team in delivering tailored solutions. Responsibilities also include supporting existing platform solutions to ensure business needs are met on critical, high-visibility projects.

No two days look the same, but you can expect to:

  • Design and recommend system structures and tools that meet business needs, considering performance, security, and integration with existing systems.
  • Translate stakeholder requirements into technical solutions, assisting developers in implementing and documenting detailed designs.
  • Install, configure, test, and maintain SharePoint infrastructure and related third-party products (Nintex, PowerBI, NC Protect, Amrein web parts).
  • Proactively monitor and ensure high system and infrastructure availability, planning and designing improvements to SharePoint performance.
  • Conduct support activities and troubleshoot issues for existing platform solutions, ensuring alignment with Defence Change Management processes.

What You’ll Bring to Make an Impact

We’re looking for someone who is motivated to learn and has a solid grounding in IT support. Ideally, you’ll have:

  • Expert knowledge of advanced technical principles, theories, and concepts relevant to SharePoint and enterprise environments.
  • Experience in SharePoint administration and development (SP2019 required; SharePoint Server Subscription Edition desirable).
  • Experience in Defence or similar industry, including familiarity with Defence Change Management.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a focus on end-to-end implementation and ongoing development of SharePoint business solutions.

Don’t worry if you don’t tick all the boxes – if you meet most of them, we encourage you to submit your application.  We’re most interested in your strengths, what you want to learn and how far you want to go.

Due to the nature of the role, you must be an Australian Citizen and hold an active NV-2 AGSVA security clearance.
