Your New Role and Responsibilities

This role is an exciting opportunity to perform crucial, high value work to support and protect our personnel in the Australian Defence Forces.  We have a team of Cyber staff looking for a consultant to inspire, motivate and support them in their mission. You will provide oversight of the SOC including security operations management and incident response, incident detection and analysis, and containment and eradication of cybersecurity incidents and data spills.

The role requires a very clear communicator to encourage and grow the SOC team to ensure we are supporting our customer in their mission.

This role can only be performed on-site in Canberra.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Supporting the CISO to review and uplift the SOC

  • Providing leadership and mentoring to the team

  • Working closely with the customer in a collaborative fashion

  • Ensuring services are delivered appropriately

  • Continuous improvement of services through people process and technology

About You and What You'll Bring 

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Proven leadership experience, including mentoring and developing junior team members.

  • Solid understanding of contemporary cybersecurity environments and operations.

  • Hands-on experience with incident response, cyber operations, and infrastructure security.

  • Ability to conduct security assessments or audits of networks and systems.

This role does require the successful applicant to be an Australian Citizen and hold a NV-2 level security clearance. If you currently hold an active NV-1 and can upgrade, you will also be considered.
