A DAY IN THE LIFE

Enthalpy Analytical, is part of the larger organization, Montrose Environmental Group, is comprised of 9 laboratories servicing air, water, and soil testing.  Regulations drive the need for our services, but our unique capabilities allow us to add value to clients beyond environmental compliance. 

Reporting to the Group Leaders, the Senior Scientist will support the development of sample handling and analytical procedures to facilitate efficient, accurate generation of data while meeting the stringent QA/QC requirements of the method.

As a key member of our Montrose team, you can expect:

  • Quantitative sample analysis
  • Method development and troubleshooting
  • Preparation of data summaries for inclusion in client reports
  • Instrument calibration, validation, and method development
  • Instrument maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Maintaining organized records of sample preparation and analysis, equipment maintenance    and data collected off site
  • Maintain consumables and parts for instruments
  • Overhead projects designed to improve efficiency of, or accuracy of analyses
  • Communicating relevant updates to applicable people in a timely manner
  • Performing other duties and responsibilities as prescribed by the Company
  • Compliance with Enthalpy’s Quality Assurance Program and other policies
  • Compliance with Company’s Health and Safety Plan

YOUR EXPERTISE & SKILLS

To perform this job successfully, individuals must be able to perform each duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the duties and responsibilities.

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, Engineering or related field
  • GC/MS analysis of gas-phase samples
  • Able to handle some non-routine samples or situations
  • Work with minimal supervision
  • Routinely meet QA/QC requirements for the assays performed
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Process implementation and improvement skills
  • Strong troubleshooting skills

Preferred Skills

  • Superior knowledge of analytical method, analytical instruments, general lab practices and lab safety
  • Experienced in use and maintenance of Agilent GC/MS and Entech sample handling equipment
  • Experience with Agilent Mass Hunter and Entech software
  • Excellent organization and documentation capabilities.
