Apply advanced trading expertise and equity markets knowledge in the execution of equity trade orders generated by institutional clients. Collaborate with institutional salespeople and position traders to identify purchase and sale opportunities, cross-sell with existing institutional clients, and develop trade recommendations that benefit institutional clients and the firm. Monitor trading positions to ensure they are within established risk parameters. Develop and report findings on market sentiment, trading environment, trading volume, and price volatility. May provide informal oversight to less experienced traders.

This role is primarily responsible for Western Regional institutional coverage.

Responsibilities include but may not be limited to:

  • Execute complex equity trade orders generated by institutional clients, utilizing advanced understanding of market factors to complete trades at optimal price points and within established risk parameters.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with institutional salespeople, position traders, Research staff and institutional clients. Develop comprehensive knowledge of client trading positions to inform future trade opportunities.
  • Collaborate with institutional salespeople and position traders to identify purchase and sale opportunities, cross-sell with existing institutional clients, and develop trade recommendations that benefit institutional clients and the firm.
  • Synthesize and communicate information regarding market sentiment, trading environment, trading volume, price volatility, etc. into relevant, concise content for institutional sales staff.
  • Monitor daily trading positions to achieve profit targets and minimize risk. Balance, reconcile and manage trading positions within risk policy limits.
  • Assist in training less experienced traders on trading operations, systems and procedures.
  • Oversee the prompt resolution of trading issues escalated by less experienced traders.
  • Ensure all trading activities are in compliance with applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Additional responsibilities as requested.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; MBA preferred
  • 5 - 7 years of trading experience required, with meaningful levels of responsibility and demonstrated success, including experience with listed and OTC equities and derivatives
  • Sell-side experience with strong institutional investor relationships preferred
  • SIE Exam, Series 7, 63 and 57 (former Series 55) required (must be obtained within first 180 days) for US; applicable license requirements may be required for international roles
  • Advanced understanding of fundamental financial, technical and economic factors driving security valuations
  • Advanced understanding of equity trading regulations, market trends and risk management theory
  • Strong knowledge of trading systems
  • Ability to clearly communicate financial or trading concepts to various audiences
  • Ability to effectively work in group environment
  • Ability to multi-task and perform functions with high level of detail and attention
  • Strong work ethic with demonstrated initiative and persistence
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products
  • Primary location: San Francisco, with consideration for candidates in New York or Chicago.

A reasonable estimate of the current base salary range at time of posting is below. Base salary does not include other forms of compensation or benefits. Actual base salary within the specified range is based on several factors, including but not limited to applicant's skills, prior relevant experience, specific degrees and certifications, job responsibilities, market considerations and, if applicable, the location of the position.

This role is eligible for either a discretionary annual bonus (based on company, business unit and individual performance) and/or commission-based incentives.

Salary Range
$170,000$300,000 USD
