Are you passionate about technical sales and developing innovative solutions in the energy sector? Do you excel at crafting winning proposals and managing a seamless, stable tender process?
As a Senior Sales Executive, you will drive the pursuit of multi-million-pound complex technical opportunities across a range of vertical markets, working closely with the Strategic Sales Lead.
In this position, you will work across the entire Johnson Controls portfolio on high-value installation and service opportunities, covering both single and multi-solution offerings. This highly collaborative role requires the ability to perform under pressure and meet tight deadlines. Strong commercial acumen, communication, and relationship-building skills are essential, along with the confidence to operate within a matrix organization.
Leadership is key: you will motivate colleagues and stakeholders assertively yet diplomatically to achieve collective goals.
You will proactively identify and qualify the most relevant customer opportunities, including monitoring the market and selecting strategic tenders to pursue. You will lead the customer dialogue from the early design phase through to final decision-making, acting as the primary point of contact and ensuring that internal experts are aligned to deliver strong, winning proposals.
You will take the lead in defining and presenting winning solutions, ensuring that all subject matter experts work together to deliver compelling pitches to clients.
This is a role with significant responsibility, requiring you to demonstrate resilience under pressure, strong independence, and consistent ability to meet deadlines.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills are vital. The Senior Sales Executive must be an articulate and confident communicator, able to influence both internally and externally.
You will be an integral part of the wider Sales Team and report directly to the Head of Sales.
How you will do it
- Be the frontline seller: You are the customer’s primary point of contact throughout market dialogue, tender clarification, prequalification, and specification. This role bridges both Sales and Bid Management, ensuring commercial ownership while driving the full tender process
- Lead and Manage the Tender Process: You will consolidate and structure input from multiple subject matter experts, ensuring that all contributions align in a clear and compelling direction. Your role is to drive the team towards a winning proposal—challenging, refining, and shaping the solution so that the final offer stands out as a strong, competitive, and ultimately winning bid
- Produce High-Quality Proposals: Create winning proposals that clearly demonstrate the value of our products and solutions, meeting customer needs and exceeding their expectations
- Coordinate Cross-Functional Teams: Collaborate with Product Management, R&D, Marketing, Delivery, and Technical Support teams to ensure bids are comprehensive, accurate, and on time
- Analyze Tender Documents: Review and assess customer tenders, identifying key requirements, risks, and opportunities for differentiation
- Risk and Compliance Management: Collaborate closely with Contract Management to evaluate contractual risks, develop and implement risk‑mitigation strategies, and ensure full compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies
- Monitor and Report Progress: Track bid progress, report on outcomes, and ensure adherence to timelines for a smooth and steady process
- Support Sales Managers: Work closely with the Sales Manager during bid phases to align with sales strategies and customer expectations
- Refine Bid Management Templates: Develop and maintain templates and processes to streamline bid management workflow and ensure consistency
