What you’ll do
Introduction
At Tribe Mortgages NL we provide customers with the means to finance the purchase of their family home, and we help manage their living needs afterwards. We do this at scale: ING’s mortgage business is one of the largest lenders in the Netherlands. Besides the opportunity to have a profound impact on our customers’ lives, this also means that it is our duty to serve our customers responsibly: to ensure that our products and their risks are well-understood, to monitor our processes for flaws and mistakes that may impact our customers and to help keep our bank safe & compliant.
As Senior Safe Business Officer (Business Control Officer) you are the go-to expert on Non-Financial Risks for your Tribe. You have a broad knowledge about diverse areas such as Compliance, Operational Risk (including AI) and Privacy. This allows you to help assess risks in products and processes in close cooperation with your colleagues at Safe Business and Tribe Mortgages NL.
For this specific role we are looking for a well-rounded, senior professional acting as a sparring partner for management. We expect you will bring your vision on the field to the table and help drive the development of Safe Business within the Tribe and within DBNL. The Tribe is developing at a rapid pace through various strategic initiatives, and your oversight and guidance will be key to make it happen in a safe and compliant way.
- To ensure that we know whether our processes and systems operate as they should, you drive the maintenance and evolution of our Risk and Control framework including Key control testing for various frameworks, covering different areas of our Mortgages NL process landscape and operations across several Non-Financial Risk Frameworks. You know what it means to be In Control, and can translate this concept into clear, effective and efficient ways of monitoring and testing. This helps to ensure that we provide Safe & Compliant service to our customers
- With your keen eye for data-driven opportunities, you help drive the transformation of our risk control landscape towards automated testing and data-driven monitoring, and take close interest in the development of appropriate controls in the area of data, monitoring and automation.
- As topical expert on Non-Financial Risk and mortgages, you are able to nimbly connect and communicate with colleagues from various departments, ranging from Tribe Mortgages NL, our operations department and other Tribes in the value chain such as Collections to other Safe Business Officers within DBNL, Risk Officers from Compliance and NFR to our colleagues at Corporate Audit Services.
- You are able to act as the product owner of the SBO team, you translate the QBR requirements to business requirements and plan the SBO activities within the team.
- Finally, you are the ambassador of a healthy and robust Risk Culture within the Tribe. You drive awareness across various topics, act as sparring partner and proactively provide (risk-related) feedback to your colleagues.
How to succeed
- A great Safe Business Officer at Tribe Mortgages NL has in-depth knowledge of Dutch mortgage loans-related policies, characteristics, and processes, combined with a strong affinity and/or existing knowledge about Non-Financial Risks.
- You are self-starting, and a critical thinker: you see through nonsense and provide a clear overview of risks that others may not have realized are there. If you identify a potential weakness in a process, you speak up, and help to drive the process towards improvement.
- As a well-rounded communicator, you can connect, forge professional relationships, and communicate with colleagues from a diverse background, ranging from tech-savvy Product Owners and marketeers to Legal Experts, Compliance Officers and Auditors. You proactively provide advice and feedback, and you are open to dialogue
- Your stakeholder management is top notch, and you are recognizable as the Safe Business expert for Mortgages NL colleagues and other stakeholders alike.
- In your work you are meticulous and diligent: you can analyse complex problems and identify the key elements such as risks, root causes and customer impact. You approach your work holistically, and you can combine insights from various areas into a coherent vision of what we need to achieve to be successful.
- Because Safe Business is a broad field of expertise, you can work on multiple topics and projects at the same time, to multitask effectively and manage your time well. You can see when good is good enough, and check-in with your colleagues for peer-review on time. You take it on and make it happen. On time, every time
- You are a great planner for both your own work and for your team. You are able to (help) prioritise and see what needs to be done. You bring structure and insights for both for activities you take on yourself and for work which depends on colleagues with whom you work together
