Location: 24 Portland Place, London, W1B 1LU, Cross site working expected in Victoria & Moorgate, London

What are we looking for?

Cleveland Clinic London are looking to recruit a Senior Respiratory and Sleep Physiologist to join our Respiratory Team with a competitive salary on offer, depending on experience.

This is a full-time, permanent role with the following shift patterns: Monday-Friday

Either 3 x long shifts (0730-2000) or 2 long (0800-2000) and 2 short (0800-1600/1200-2000)

On call duties may be required within this post

What will your duties include?

  • Perform ordered lung function, sleep diagnostics and pulmonary stress testing, including CPET and CPESE as required.

  • Assists with the day-to-day operations within the department.  

  • Providing training and educational in-services to staff as required. This may include teaching and mentoring physiologists, clinical fellows and nurses with less experience.

  • Identifies complex equipment and procedure faults, using clinical and technical experience, to ensure that patient results are accurate and safe.

  • Has an active role in the functioning, calibration and quality assurance of measurements on complex devices, including analysing quality control data.

  • Support the development and delivery of our high-quality diagnostic services, while ensuring a high standard of technical work is maintained. The services involve a range of routine and complex investigations, including but not limited to:

  • FeNO (Essential)

  • Spirometry (Essential)

  • Spirometry Sitting and Supine (Essential)

  • Bronchodilation Tests (Essential)

  • Gas Transfer (Essential)

  • Static Lung Volumes by Body Plethysmography (Essential)

  • SNIPS, MIPS and MEPS (Essential)

  • Capillary Blood Gas Analysis (Essential)

  • Mannitol Provocation (Essential)

  • Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing (CPET) on both a treadmill and cycle ergometer (Bike is Essential)

  • Maximal Voluntary Ventilation Assessments (MVV) (Desirable)

  • Oximetry with Ambulation (Desirable)

  • Hypoxic Challenge Testing (Desirable)

  • 6-Minute Walking Test (6MWT) (Desirable)

  • Cardiopulmonary Stress Echo (CPESE) Testing (Desirable)

  • Overnight Oximetry (Desirable)

  • Respiratory Polygraphy (Desirable)

  • Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) set ups (Desirable)

  • Non-Invasive ventilation (NIV) set ups (Desirable)

What we need from you?

  • Clinical Physiology or related BSc is essential. (MSc is preferred)

  • ARTP Part 1&2 or level 3 with ARTP professional registration are essential.

  • Recent, relevant experience in a respiratory related role as a Senior Physiologist. (essential)

  • Experience working in a Lung Function & Cardio-Pulmonary Exercise Testing clinic (Essential) and Sleep department (Desirable)

  • BTS or ERS membership or qualifications is desirable, or willingness to work towards.
