Senior Researcher- Immuno-Metabolomics Core

The Immuno-Metabolomics Core (ImMeC) within the Department of Immunology is seeking an experienced Senior Researcher. The ImMeC provides investigators with hydrophilic metabolite and lipid profiling, as well as targeted and stable-isotope tracing analyses using either liquid chromatography (LC) interfaced with high-resolution mass spectrometry (HRMS) or tandem quadrupole mass spectrometry (TQ-MS), or gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). In addition, the core performs routine qualitative and quantitative analysis of hydrophilic metabolites and lipids using well-established analytical protocols, and works alongside investigators to implement and/or develop methods for detecting analytes not covered by our current protocols.

Ideal candidates for this role are highly skilled in mass spectrometry–based metabolomics and lipidomics. They excel at method development, data analysis, and troubleshooting, and bring a solid understanding of metabolic pathways and isotope-tracing strategies. They are organized, collaborative scientists who communicate clearly with investigators, manage multiple projects efficiently, and maintain rigorous quality-control standards. A proactive, problem-solving mindset and the ability to train or mentor others round out the qualities of an exceptional fit for the position.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Performs laboratory experiments independently using established techniques/protocols.
  • Sets up protocols, troubleshoots experiments using new or modified laboratory techniques.
  • Accurately records experimental procedures and data.
  • Prepares and reports results/ data leading to posters, presentations or publications
  • May provide guidance to entry-level employees.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned in order to meet the goals of the department and institution
  • Maintains regular and predictable attendance

Minimum Education and/or Training:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant scientific area is required. Preferred degree in Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry, or Biochemistry

Minimum Experience:

  • Two (2) years of research experience is required.
  • No prior experience is required with a Master’s degree.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of underlying concepts and principles of experimental design.
  • Experience with the most widely used techniques used in the home laboratory.
  • Proven performance in earlier role/comparable role.

Compensation

In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $26.00 - $45.50 per hour for the role of Senior Researcher- Immuno-Metabolomics Core.
