Senior Research Fellow (Transportation Engineering)

The Senior Research Fellow will contribute to leading the development of an AI-assisted, data-driven road safety analytics framework. The role involves integrating multi-source transport datasets, developing advanced analytical and machine learning models for risk identification, and supporting the design of evidence-based interventions within a unified GIS-enabled decision-support platform.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and drive the overall project execution, including research direction setting, task coordination, and milestone delivery to ensure timely and high-quality outcomes.

  • Provide leadership and supervision to the research team, mentoring junior researchers and coordinating collaborations with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Integrate and manage multi-source transport datasets, including traffic flow, telematics, road geometry, signal timing, and incident records.

  • Develop and implement advanced analytics and AI/ML models to identify road safety risks and spatio-temporal patterns.

  • Design and conduct simulation experiments to evaluate proposed safety interventions and quantify their impacts.

Job Requirements:

  • PhD degree in transportation engineering or related field

  • At least four years of post-doctoral research experience

  • Expertise in data analytics and computer programming

  • Knowledge in traffic safety, urban transportation studies, traffic flow theory, operation research 

  • Publication track record must be good

  • Proficiency in English - essential for data analysis and communication with stakeholders
