Join Our Team at the School of Biological Sciences, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore
The School of Biological Sciences (SBS), part of the College of Science at Nanyang Technological University, was established in 2002 with a mission to advance excellence in biological and biomedical sciences. Our research spans diverse and impactful areas including infectious diseases, immunology, neurodegenerative disorders, telomere biology, and genome function. SBS is home to a vibrant, international community of scientific leaders, researchers, and professionals dedicated to innovation, discovery, and education.
We are seeking a highly motivated Research Fellow to join our interdisciplinary research team focused on small-molecule drug discovery. Recently, emerging chemically induced proximity (CIP) technologies have offered novel approaches to reprogramming the endogenous biological system to modulate disease-related proteins. This position will integrate medicinal chemistry and chemical biology approaches to discover and optimize novel therapeutics, with future research focusing on developing next-generation proximity-inducing drugs.
Key Responsibilities:
Propose hypothesis-driven target molecules based on emerging structure-activity relationships, optimizing compounds so as to advance lead series for proximity inducing modalities (PIM).
Solve complex synthesis problems using state-of-the-art methodology
Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary team members to enhance research productivity and innovation.
Maintain high level of expertise through familiarity with scientific literature.
Use strong communication (both verbal and technical) and interpersonal skills to communicate objectives and results.
Train and mentor graduate and undergraduate students.
Job Requirements:
PhD in Synthetic Organic Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, or a closely related discipline.
Strong hands-on experience in multi-step organic synthesis and compound design
Demonstrated track record of research productivity (e.g., publications/patents)
Proficiency in analytical methods (e.g., HPLC, NMR, LC-MS)
Creative, self-driven, and solution-oriented mindset.
Excellent communication and scientific writing skills.
A creative, self-driven mindset with excellent communication and writing skills
Interest or experience in interdisciplinary research involving pharmacology, biology, or ADME/PK
Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
Experience in targeted protein degradation and related modalities
>4 years of postdoctoral experience is preferred
