The Role:

The Senior Research Analyst is responsible for creating value through the design, analysis, and application of behavioral and organizational data, combining psychological science with advanced analytics, qualitative research, and emerging AI-enabled approaches. This role blends qualitative and qualitative research, applied data science, and product-oriented thinking to support Heidrick & Struggles’ leadership talent and assessment offerings. Research Analysts are individual contributors who manage projects as assigned, including work that is also in response to specific client needs, as well as longer-term and enterprise-relevant initiatives that involve experimentation, iteration, and innovation.

An ideal candidate has a passion for understanding organizations, leadership, and behavioral psychology, paired with curiosity about new methods, technologies, and tools. The ability to develop a deep understanding of Heidrick & Struggles’ services and the suite of products and offerings that support them is imperative. This role is ideal for an I/O psychologist who wants to go beyond traditional analytics, combining behavioral science, data science, and AI to build next-generation leadership and talent solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and execute quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-methods research.
  • Consistently generate insight from data and connect findings to real-world application and client impact.
  • Create visually appealing and effective data displays and narratives.
  • Prepare professional presentations and present findings to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Contribute to publishing papers, conference presentations, thought leadership, and marketing materials.
  • Analyze structured and unstructured data using modern tools (e.g., Python, R).
  • Apply text analytics, NLP, and AI-enabled approaches to qualitative data.
  • Partner with product, engineering, and external vendors to prototype and iterate on analytics and assessment solutions.
  • Contribute to the development of new client-facing products and the continuous optimization of existing tools.
  • Assist in efforts to validate and establish predictive properties for H&S proprietary tools.
  • Shows expertise in qualitative and quantitative analysis strategies using applied data; draws accurate and relevant conclusions to support HLabs proprietary tools.
  • Uses logic, expertise, and experience to gather information and identify solutions to an issue
  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to partner effectively across stakeholder groups.
  • Demonstrates curiosity, creativity, and independence, with a willingness to experiment, test ideas, and pivot when approaches don’t work.
  • Excellent communication skills – verbal, written and listening; ability to turn data into compelling stories and present to non-technical audiences.
  • Interested in emerging, innovative technologies and their application to leadership, talent, and assessment.
  • Possess the ability to effectively drive multiple projects simultaneously and achieve goals within tight timelines; strong project management skills.
  • Comfortable working in ambiguous, matrix environments with a proactive, forward-looking approach.
  • Motivated to contribute to publications, conference presentations, and intellectual property over time.
  • Other duties as assigned and willing to travel on occasion.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of two years of professional experience.
  • MA/MS in business, psychology, organizational leadership, or similar.
  • Strong proficiency in Python and/or R for data analysis and research.
  • Some experience working with qualitative data, text analytics, NLP, or AI-enabled tools.
  • Familiarity with psychometric methods, validation, and measurement theory.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two or more years of professional services experience.
  • PhD/ABD in Business, Psychology, Organizational Leadership, or similar field.
  • Experience working with large datasets, data warehouses, or SQL.
  • Familiarity with reproducible research practices and version control (e.g., Git) is a plus.

Pay Range Guidelines for this Position:

The salary range for this position is 85000 USD to 112000 USD. Compensation is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience and skills. In addition to your salary, Heidrick & Struggles offers discretionary bonuses (subject to eligibility requirements) and a comprehensive benefits package including: medical, dental, vision, disability leave, parental leave, paid time off and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Note: we have a location based compensation structure; there may be a different range for candidates in other locations.
