Senior Reporting Specialist – R&D

What we need 

The Senior Reporting Specialist – R&D will be a part of the Project Costing team within the Finance Planning & Analysis organization. In this fast-paced role, you will have exposure to a wide variety of business activities.  You will be directly supporting the Chief Technology Officer and organization as their financial support. This role will include performing detailed data analysis, development of strong KPIs and reporting, and overall presentations and report-outs to the team. This role will be directly working with engineering project managers and managing each individual project budget.

You will be supporting various R&D projects and site-specific engineering support and will be involved in assisting in the development and deployment of an estimate at complete process to the internal engineering and IT workforce. It will be working cross-functionally with the engineering and IT teams to ensure we are tracking budgets/estimates at complete accurately.  You will also involve fielding requests for new projects and performing the necessary ROI analysis to garner approvals and will assist in the deployment of labor auditing amongst the cost center teams. This role will report to the Senior Manager, Project Cost & Reporting. 

 What we do 

The FP&A team plays a crucial role in ensuring the financial health of projects within the organization. Our responsibilities encompass a range of activities related to project costs, budget management, and financial reporting.  Our team has a responsibility to report on our internal R&D projects in addition to engineering and IT efforts that have direct impacts to our site portfolio and ensure we are on track from a schedule and cost perspective. The group is crucial to driving visibility and accountability in the largest cost organization at Symbotic.

What you’ll do 

  • Manage project cost control, R&D data collection, and reporting

  • Support risk management, change management, and budget control

  • Implement new "estimate at complete" processes for R&D spend

  • Assist in the consolidation of the R&D site portfolio

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to optimize business costing

  • Report on project budgets, actuals, forecasts, and variances

  • Approve purchase requisitions and change management related to R&D

  • Track project tasks and monitor variances to budget

  • Formulate and track risks and opportunities

  • Drive cost reduction efforts and opportunities within the organization

  • Develop automated KPI reporting for the CTO via Power BI/Tableau

  • Apply Earned Value and Task Management to R&D projects

What you’ll need 

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or equivalent. MBA is a plus

  • Minimum 5 years of Indirect or Project Management experience (through finance or functionality)

  • Excellent organization, attention to detail, analytical and abstract reasoning skills.

  • Ability to construct a budget

  • Ability to work in a team environment  

  • Strong communication and presentation skills

  • Ability to work in a results-oriented, project-driven, real-time team environment, prioritize projects and deliver quality results within tight time constraints

  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic business environment that requires rapid learning, multitasking and prioritization of deliverables.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; specifically Excel and PowerPoint

  • Power BI/ Tableau experience is preferred

  • SAP Experience is preferred

  • Hybrid schedule (minimum 3 days per week based in Wilmington, MA office)

Our Environment

  • Up to 10% of travel may be required. Employees must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive and/or fly to client and other customer locations.

  • The employee is responsible for owning a credit card and managing expenses personally to be reimbursed on a bi-weekly basis

The base range for this position in the posted location is $101,000.00 - $138,600.00 however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The compensation package includes medical, dental, vision, disability, 401K, PTO and/or other benefits.
