Job Description
As part of the Thermo Fisher Scientific team, you'll discover meaningful work that makes a positive impact on a global scale. Join our colleagues in bringing our Mission to life every single day to enable our customers to make the world healthier, cleaner and safer. We provide our global teams with the resources needed to achieve individual career goals while helping to take science a step beyond by developing solutions for some of the world's toughest challenges, like protecting the environment, making sure our food is safe or helping find cures for cancer.
DESCRIPTION
Guide cross-functional teams to deliver strategic Software projects that advance Thermo Fisher Scientific's mission of enabling customers to make the world healthier, cleaner and safer. Partner with stakeholders across R&D, Business Units, Operations, Marketing, and other functions to drive successful development and commercialization of innovative products and solutions. Provide strategic direction in planning, executing and monitoring complex projects while maintaining focus on timelines, budgets and quality. Support developing project managers and foster a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end delivery execution for assigned Software R&D projects through the CMD SW SDLC lifecycle (Pre-Discovery → Commercialisation).
- Maintain the project "single source of truth" across CMD SW PMO tools (e.g., project plan/milestones, RAID (risks/actions/issues/decisions), ADO & PPM Pro health, governance artefacts).
- Drive predictable outcomes by actively managing scope, milestones, dependencies, risks/issues, decisions, and delivery confidence.
- Lead project operating cadence (kick-off, stakeholder updates, action tracking, escalation) and ensure consistent execution across core and extended teams.
- Own project performance reporting and metrics, ensuring timely, accurate visibility of schedule health, forecast changes, RAID exposure, and delivery risks.
- Ensure SDLC phase readiness and evidence-based phase exits, including completion and storage of required governance documentation/approvals.
- Coordinate resource planning and demand vs supply alignment with functional managers, ensuring plans reflect realistic capacity and constraints.
- Support agile delivery execution by enabling dependency management, transparency, and backlog readiness in partnership with PLO/PO/Scrum roles.
- Operate in line with CMD SW PMO mission, standards, and expectations for predictability, visibility, quality, and consistency.
Success Measures & Accountabilities
- Project plans, RAID, metrics and tool data are accurate, current, and audit-ready at all times.
- Milestones are delivered as committed, or risks are escalated early with a credible recovery plan and revised forecast.
- Stakeholders receive clear, decision-oriented reporting with no surprises on scope, schedule, or delivery confidence.
- Phase exits are achieved with evidence (readiness, approvals, deliverables), not opinion.
- Delivery performance metrics are trusted, timely, and used to drive action and accountability.
