We are seeking a Senior Rail and Transit Principal Technical Manager – Architecture to join our team in New York, NY. Your role

  • Provide architectural team leadership, interact with senior leaders and play a decisive role in project pursuits with current and prospective clients as well as network.

  • Supervise project delivery, manage senior technical professionals and provide direction on employee development activities and shared goals throughout the technical discipline.

  • Serve as an Architect of Record.

  • Conduct staff planning for projects, evaluate staffing resources for current and future projects, based on technical and budgetary requirements of future workload projections.

  • Participate in prepositioning efforts including creating teaming arrangements, developing staffing plans and scope, and create schedule and fee preparation to be used in the pursuit of new opportunities.

  • Exude an entrepreneurial spirit and a desire for career advancement. Possess architectural project expertise that is varied in terms of project type, complexity and size. Skilled at analyzing information, proposing effective solutions and guiding team in design approach.

  • Support market growth through person relationships, technical expertise and growth of relationships with key officials of client agencies, organizations, and partner companies

  • Possess strong business acumen including the understanding of project financial performance, metrics and risk management. Coordinate with / manage sub-consultants and other disciplines, mentor junior staff.

  • Create and present client presentations, communicate financial and productivity targets with team, within the hours budgeted for tasks assigned. Maintain accountability of financial performance.

  • Possess Knowledge of local building codes, FEDERAL and STATE compliance requirements and experience working with MTA, AMTRAK, NJT and/or LIRR, agencies. Experience interacting with regulatory agencies and achieving a consensus.

  • Familiarity with Alternative Delivery (Design Build, Progressive Desing Build, CMAR, etc.) methods, possess an understanding of 3D model mechanics used in BIM and other digital formats( for the purpose of providing oversight).

About you 

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree in architecture or business a plus

  • Professional Registration in the State of New York required

  • Strong communication, collaboration and engagement skills in a highly coordinated professional environment.

  • 15 years of project delivery experience in  all phases of architectural design, detailing, and assisting with the oversight of consultants and clients.

  • Approximately 10 years experience with the New York Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) delivering Building and Facilities projects including Transit Stations, Operations and Maintenance facilities, Ancillary support facilities, commercial spaces, etc. NY MTA Rail and Transit experience, required.

  • Must be able to travel up to 25%. Role is hybrid (combination of working each week in NYC office, with option to work portion of week remotely).

  • LEED AP or other sustainability certification or ability to obtain upon request

Additional information 

Expected compensation range is between $190,000- $240,000 annually depending on skills, experience, and geographical location.
