Job Description:

Senior Quantity Surveyor

Abu Dhabi, UAE

In this role the Senior Quantity Surveyor (SR. QS) is part of a Project Management Consultancy team and will be providing all necessary assistance to the construction supervision team with respect to all financial aspects and contractual matters in the project. They will be responsible for all matters relating to Post Contract Administration including review and certification of interim payments, change management, Contract Administration and other financial matters.

What You'll Be Doing:

Key Responsibilities:

Commercial & Cost Management

  • Manage all post‑contract commercial activities from contract award to final account

  • Prepare, submit, and agree interim valuations and payment applications

  • Monitor project cost performance against approved budgets and cash flow forecasts

  • Control and report on cost movements/early warnings, variations, and anticipated final account values

  • Experience in measurement procedures and calculation of interim and final quantities

  • Assist in the evaluation and recommendation of entitlement of Contractors claims for review and issuance by the Contracts Manager.

  • Assist in the preparation of monthly cost reports for internal and client stakeholders

Contract Administration

  • Administer contracts in accordance with contract terms and applicable procurement routes

  • proficiency in Contracts for high-end, large-scale projects (i.e. FIDIC and bespoke Contract Documents).

  • Experience in drafting/preparing Contractual correspondence and other documents (e.g. Contract Amendments)

  • Assess, prepare, and substantiate variations, change orders, and claims

  • Experience in Provisional Sum Activation and administration

  • Ensure compliance with contractual notice requirements

  • Support the project team on contractual strategy and risk mitigation

  • Ensure completeness and validity of all contractual requirements including review Bonds/Guarantees and Insurances

Risk & Value Management

  • Identify, assess, and manage commercial and contractual risks

  • Support value engineering initiatives and cost‑saving measures

  • Monitor contract final cost estimate.

  • Preparation of Final Account with all supporting documentation.

Final Accounts & Close‑Out

  • Lead the preparation, negotiation, and agreement of final accounts

  • Ensure accurate reconciliation of all commercial records at project close‑out

  • Support handover and commercial close‑out in line with company procedures

Collaboration

  • Provide commercial advice to Contracts Managers and Directors and wider delivery team

  • Liaise with clients, consultants, and supply chain to maintain strong professional relationships

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

  • Bachelor's Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or related discipline

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience, with strong post‑contract focus

  • Experience in Middle East construction market, ideally in Abu Dhabi

  • Demonstrable experience on major construction or infrastructure projects

  • Strong knowledge of standard forms of contract (e.g. FIDIC, bespoke EPC contracts)

  • Excellent commercial, negotiation, and analytical skills

  • Must be fluent in English both written and spoken

Desirable

  • Professional membership (RICS, CIOB, or equivalent)

  • Experience in dispute resolution or claims support
