About the role:

As a Senior QA Engineer, you'll be a technical leader in our quality engineering transformation. You'll architect advanced testing solutions, champion best practices, and drive the implementation of our shift-left testing strategy. This role offers the opportunity to shape the future of quality engineering at AssetMark while working with cutting-edge testing technologies.

We can only consider candidates for this position who are able to accommodate a hybrid work schedule and are close to our Charlotte, NC office.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Architecture:

  • Design and architect advanced automation frameworks and testing patterns

  • Implement performance and security testing strategies

  • Create reusable test components and utilities for the entire team

  • Evaluate and recommend testing approaches and technologies

  • Build test infrastructure as code and establish testing standards

Quality Strategy & Innovation:

  • Design comprehensive test strategies for complex features and systems

  • Champion test-driven development practices across engineering teams

  • Guide shift-left testing implementation and establish quality gates

  • Address complex testing challenges and technical debt

  • Balance test coverage with delivery timelines and business objectives

 

Mentorship & Process Improvement:

  • Mentor QA engineers on technical skills and career development

  • Lead testing technical discussions and represent QA in cross-functional meetings

  • Improve testing processes and methodologies based on industry best practices

  • Implement risk-based testing approaches and optimization strategies

  • Interview QA candidates at all levels and contribute to team building

 

Collaboration & Influence:

  • Partner effectively with product managers, architects, and engineering leads

  • Translate quality needs into technical solutions and communicate constraints

  • Lead quality-focused design reviews and advocate for testability

  • Participate in architectural decisions with focus on quality implications

  • Drive testing innovation and evaluate build vs. buy decisions for testing tools

 

Advanced Testing Capabilities:

  • Implement advanced CI/CD test pipelines and quality automation

  • Develop custom testing utilities and framework enhancements

  • Create comprehensive testing strategies for microservices architectures

  • Establish testing approaches for cloud-native applications (AWS preferred)

  • Lead testing for enterprise-level initiatives and complex integrations

Technical Expertise:

  • Expert-level knowledge of modern testing frameworks (Cypress, Playwright, Selenium, etc.)

  • Advanced experience with API testing and microservices testing strategies

  • Strong background in performance testing tools (Gatling, Locust, JMeter)

  • Deep understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices

  • Experience with cloud-native testing strategies (AWS preferred)

  • Proficiency in multiple programming languages and testing libraries

  • Knowledge of test infrastructure as code and containerization

 

Leadership & Strategy:

  • Demonstrated ability to influence technical decisions and drive quality initiatives

  • Experience mentoring engineers and building high-performing teams

  • Strong communication skills with ability to present to engineering leadership

  • Proven track record of implementing testing transformations

  • Experience with agile methodologies and quality engineering practices

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field

  • 5+ years of experience in software testing and quality assurance

  • 2+ years of experience in senior or lead QA roles

  • Proven track record of building and scaling test automation frameworks

Compensation: The Base Salary range for this position is between $106,000-$125,000.

 

This information reflects a base salary range that AssetMark reasonably expects to pay for the position based on a number of factors which may include job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and actual work location. This position will also be eligible for additional variable incentive compensation and competitive benefits.
