The opportunity:
As a Senior QA Lead, you will ensure the highest level of quality across Harvard Business Publishing’s applications. You will work closely with cross‑functional partners to ensure products meet business requirements and user expectations. This role reports to the Director of QA and plays a key leadership role across the SDLC.
What You’ll Do
Serve as a core member of an Agile team, partnering closely with Product Owners to understand business goals, user needs, and requirements
Collaborate with Developers, Development Architects, and Content Systems Architects to understand application architecture, integrations, and underlying technologies
Partner with Project Managers to estimate testing effort, track progress, establish quality gates, and advocate for quality across delivery
Lead test execution across all phases of the SDLC, including:
Creating test plans, test cases, and test data
Executing manual and automated tests
Logging, tracking, and verifying defects
Developing QA dashboards and test metrics
Supervise and support off‑shore QA Engineers, providing guidance, coaching, and oversight
Design, implement, and continuously improve test automation strategies
Work closely with DevOps teams to support test environments and CI/CD pipelines
Collaborate with other QA Leads to standardize QA practices, tools, and approaches across applications
What You’ll Bring
4+ years of experience leading software testing projects
7+ years of experience as a QA Engineer, including:
Test plans, test cases, test data, and traceability matrices
Strong experience managing the full defect lifecycle, ensuring defects are logged, prioritized, triaged, and validated once resolved
Hands‑on experience working within Agile methodologies
Proven success working with distributed, remote Agile teams across multiple time zones
Experience supervising, mentoring, and coaching QA Engineers
Deep experience with functional, regression, and end‑to‑end testing (manual and automated)
Exposure to load, performance, security, and accessibility testing
Experience testing multi‑tier web applications and databases
Experience building, maintaining, and integrating automation frameworks within CI/CD pipelines
Technical Skills and Expertise
Web technologies: HTML, CSS, browsers
Databases and SQL
API testing using tools such as Postman or REST Assured
Test management and defect tracking tools
Automation and CI/CD tools such as Selenium (Java), Jenkins, or equivalent
Load and performance testing tools (e.g., JMeter, LoadRunner)
Solid understanding of:
Software architecture and network layers
CPU utilization and performance considerations
Application security, vulnerabilities, SQL injection, and intrusion detection

$115,000 - $130,000
Above is the annualized pay range for this position. In addition, this position includes the opportunity to earn our annual Performance Based Variable Pay Program. Actual salary will be set based upon a range of factors, including external benchmark market data, individual knowledge, skills, experience, location and internal equity.
