About this Opportunity:

As a Senior Manager of Public Relations, you will amplify the Orion story with external audiences as we enter the next phase of our high-growth journey. This professional is responsible for the strategic planning, development and execution of effective external communication programs that elevate the profile of Orion, including but not limited to, media relations, executive visibility, industry thought leadership and partnership PR. This individual will also provide ongoing support related to crisis communications, issues management, financial communications, and merger and acquisition communications. As we continue to evolve and live our Orion values, we are looking for someone to grow with us.  

For External Candidates:
Candidates must work in-office at one of the following locations for at least 3 days per week: Omaha, NE; Berwyn, PA.

In this role, you’ll get to:

  • Work to proactively obtain media coverage for Orion through break-through media relations strategies, including: responding to incoming media calls, arranging media tours, booking speaking engagement/corporate events, and arranging interviews with Orion executives
  • Develop communication and messaging strategies to deliver critical organizational updates to media and industry-wide external audiences in creative and innovative ways
  • Oversee relationships with PR agency of record and other third parties providing additional support for media strategy, media relations and content development
  • Work to mitigate brand risks as part of crisis communications team
  • Nurture a strong network of journalists and industry influencers to increase awareness and develop an enviable corporate image by developing and executing effective communication and media relations programs
  • Write bylined articles, blogs, fact sheets, story pitches, FAQs, talking points, scripts, and presentations
  • Track and report on media coverage and PR effectiveness results monthly, quarterly and annually
  • Develop communication channel strategy utilizing best in class platforms and tools to communicate with key stakeholders, suggest/implement new initiatives to keep the company on the cutting edge of communication practices
  • Lead executive visibility and thought leadership with multiple Orion executives and the firm’s bench of subject matter experts
  • Work with marketing teams to determine how larger campaigns, such as new product launches and product enhancements, can be supported by public relations, thought leadership and social media
  • Lead activation of Orion’s integrated PESO (Paid, Earned, Shared, Owned) strategy to amplify brand visibility, extend the reach of earned media, and create cohesive, measurable campaigns across channels
  • Use AI-powered insights and tools to identify emerging stories, monitor sentiment, analyze coverage, and continuously optimize PR performance. Stays ahead of evolving best practices in AI for communications to drive smarter, faster, and more data-driven results
  • Support Corporate Communications leadership with financial communications
  • Lead strategy and execution of our industry awards program

We’re looking for talent who:

  • Has strong story-telling skills and the ability to simplify complex topics
  • Has brand journalism experience and strong copywriting skills; social media writing preferred
  • Helps mitigate brand risk through timely, transparent communications
  • Has excellent judgement and ability to properly handle sensitive and confidential information
  • Multi-tasks while maintaining careful attention to detail
  • Works with a sense of urgency to meet deadlines and address competing priorities
  • Has strong knowledge of the investment products and financial advisory industry
  • Has proficiency with or strong curiosity to learn AI-driven PR and analytics tools (e.g., media intelligence platforms, sentiment analysis, and content optimization). Demonstrated commitment to staying current with emerging AI and digital communication trends
  • Manages agency and consultant relationships providing support; including research, advocacy, events and the execution of PR plans
  • Has effective written, listening and verbal communication skills
  • Has effective problem solving and organizational skills
  • Has a minimum of a bachelor's degree
  • Has a minimum of 7 years of experience
  • Owns and manages relationships with stakeholders directly and works effectively with people at all levels in an organization

Salary Range:

$94,869.00 - $146,945.00

The pay listed in this posting indicates the estimated pay at the time of this posting; however, may vary depending on geographic location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
