Senior Property Accountant – JLL

Location: Jersey City, NJ (Onsite - 5 days a week)

What this job involves:

  • Join JLL's dynamic property management team as a Senior Property Accounting Specialist, where you'll serve as a cornerstone of financial operations for commercial real estate portfolios. In this pivotal role, you'll deliver comprehensive accounting and reporting support while functioning as a key strategic member of the management team.
  • You'll be instrumental in driving financial accuracy, supporting property managers with critical business insights, and ensuring seamless fiscal operations that directly contribute to JLL's reputation for excellence in property management.
  • This position offers the opportunity to work with diverse commercial properties, collaborate with clients and internal teams, and make a meaningful impact on property performance through expert financial stewardship.

What your day-to-day will look like:

  • Prepare and analyze monthly financial reports including journal entries, financial statements, and bank reconciliations to ensure accurate property-level accounting
  • Support annual budget development by compiling key assumptions, maintaining lease-level budgeting, and coordinating budget input into accounting systems
  • Manage the full accounts receivable cycle including monitoring cash receipts, reviewing tenant recurring charges, and processing billing adjustments
  • Oversee accounts payable processes by reviewing invoice coding and approvals while maintaining proper audit trails for all transactions
  • Coordinate year-end reconciliation processes for CAM charges, percentage rent, insurance, utilities, and real estate taxes
  • Serve as the primary liaison with client finance teams and provide training to team members on accounting software systems
  • Assist property managers with variance report preparation and quarterly re-forecasting to support strategic decision-making

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum 5 years of commercial real estate accounting experience with demonstrated expertise in property-level financial operations
  • Experience with real estate accounting software platforms such as Yardi or MRI
  • Strong knowledge of commercial lease structures, CAM reconciliations, and tenant billing processes
  • Proven ability to manage multiple properties and coordinate complex financial processes simultaneously
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly advanced Excel skills for financial modeling and analysis
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail and accuracy

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional accounting certification (CPA) or progress toward certification
  • Experience working with institutional property owners or large commercial real estate portfolios
  • Familiarity with property management operations and industry best practices
  • Strong communication skills for client interaction and cross-functional collaboration
  • Experience with budget preparation and financial forecasting in commercial real estate
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) as applied to real estate
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments

Estimated compensation for this position:

105,000.00 – 115,000.00 USD per year

This range is an estimate and actual compensation may differ. Final compensation packages are determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
