The Senior Project Manager is responsible for the leadership and delivery of complex, cross-functional projects that advance the strategic, operational, and clinical goals of the health system. This position provides end-to-end project management — from initiation through implementation and evaluation — ensuring that projects are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.

The Senior Project Manager partners with leaders across departments, including clinical, administrative, and technical areas, to coordinate resources, facilitate communication, and drive organizational performance. Projects may include operational process improvements, technology implementations, facility initiatives, or system-wide performance improvement efforts.
This role requires strong organizational, analytical, and leadership skills, as well as the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Information Systems, or a related field AND Seven (7) years of progressive experience in project management, program coordination, or related healthcare operations work

OR High school diploma with nine (9) years of progressive experience in project management, program coordination, or related healthcare operations work and Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certification

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or Lean Six Sigma certification preferred.

2. Master’s degree in a related field preferred.

3. Experience in a large, integrated health system or academic medical center preferred.

1. Leads multiple concurrent projects spanning clinical, operational, and administrative areas.

2. Defines project scope, objectives, deliverables, success metrics, and resource needs in collaboration with stakeholders.

3. Develops and manages detailed project plans, schedules, and timelines to ensure timely completion.

4. Oversees project execution from initiation through closeout, maintaining adherence to scope, budget, and quality standards.

5. Establishes and maintains project governance, risk management, and issue resolution processes.

6. Serves as the primary liaison between project teams, sponsors, and senior leadership.

7. Facilitates regular project meetings and prepares status updates, progress reports, and executive summaries.

8. Ensures effective communication and stakeholder engagement to promote alignment and transparency.

9. Identifies, assesses, and mitigates project risks while proactively addressing potential barriers.

10. Manages internal and external resources, including staff, vendors, and consultants, to meet project goals.

11. Oversees project budgets, vendor contracts, and financial tracking to ensure fiscal accountability.

12. Applies project management and performance improvement methodologies to drive efficiency and measurable outcomes.

13. Provides leadership, coaching, and mentorship to project team members to promote professional growth and team effectiveness.

14. Ensures projects comply with institutional policies, procedures, and applicable regulatory standards.

15. Prepares comprehensive documentation, lessons learned, and post-project evaluations to support continuous improvement.

4. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.

5. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present to executive leadership.

6. Proficiency with project management and collaboration software (e.g., MS Project, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint).

7. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

8. Collaborative team player who fosters positive relationships across all levels of the organization.
