Job Summary:

The primary role involves managing multiple projects within the Warehouse Design department.   These projects could be but are not limited to projects for warehouse layout/design, rack re-configuration, slotting optimization, and distribution systems.   Warehouse Design scope includes existing rack replacement, rack storage reconfigurations, warehouse expansions, and new site conceptual designs.   Must be able to liaise with other operational areas in the organization to secure specialized resources and contributions for the projects. The role also involves the analytics of warehouse capacity and space needs across various Sysco distribution companies.   The candidate should be able to utilize current warehouse planning methods, and provide continuous streamlining and optimization of existing tools, as well as develop new tools for departmental use.  Must be able to plan, budget, oversee and document all aspects of the specific project they are working on. Must be able to build business cases for Design projects using data and supporting analyses.  The candidate will utilize critical thinking, data analysis, and problem-solving abilities to identify, define, and provide solutions to specific problems pertaining to assigned scopes of work and must also be able to define and manage project scope and schedule.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Warehouse racking project

  • Provide space requirements that factor in forecasted growth for both item mix, inventory levels, and various building attributes.

  • Determine proper allocation of standard slot types and design storage racking layouts across multi-temperature food distribution warehouses.

  • Coordinate with internal teams to help design and develop, price, plan, and execute general warehouse project types across multiple temperature zones:  rack replacement, rack reconfiguration, storage expansions, new site.

  • Generate RFP (request for proposal) packets for submission to rack vendors, analyze returned proposals, and provide vendor selection for project.

  • Set tasks, priorities, and coordinate project staff to meet project targets and milestones.

  • Prepare materials and lead project meetings between ops-site team, internal teams, and 3rd party vendors.

Warehouse Capacity Analysis

  • Provide recommendations for development and streamlining of warehouse planning tools and methodologies.

  • Conduct multi-site storage sizing and capacity exercises

  • Prepare materials and deliverables of space need outcomes to senior leadership.

  • Assist customer solutions team with space requirements and site capacity feasibility of potential customer acquisitions

  • Provide well thought out results and solutions to leadership that are backed by analysis results.

Regional optimization Projects

  • Coordinate with Supply Chain Design team for movement of customer items and volume between sites and/or Greenfield/Brownfield locations.

  • Provide storage sizing impacts to the origin sites before and after customer moves

  • Provide Construction and AutoCAD teams with minimum space requirements to develop and to price a conceptual greenfield/brownfield location and/or any resulting site expansion.

Education Required:

BS in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Warehouse Design, Industrial Engineering or equivalent or a closely related field required or equivalent combination of education and related experience.

Education Preferred:

Masters preferred but not required.

Experience Required:

5+ years; preferred experience in Warehouse Design/Layout Planning, Supply Chain, Operations, Procurement or equivalent.

Licenses/Certification Required:

Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, charts, and advanced formulas) required

Microsoft office applications  

Licenses/Certification Preferred:

Tableau (mapping, dashboard creations, LOD functions) preferred

Experienced with Database querying (SQL, Python, etc.) preferred
