What We Offer

The City and County of Denver offers competitive pay commensurate with education and experience. New hires are typically brought into the organization between $120,000 - $162,000/year. We also offer generous benefits for full-time employees which include but are not limited to:

Location & Schedule

The City and County of Denver supports a hybrid workplace model. Employees work where needed, at a job site several days a week and off-site as needed. Employees must work within the state of Colorado on their off-site days.   

In this position, you can expect to work on-site Monday through Thursday at our DEN World Port Office Building (24735 E. 75th Ave., Denver, CO 80249), with remote work available on Fridays.

Denver International Airport (DEN) is looking for a Senior Project Manager to join our Special Projects Operational Readiness and Airport Transition (ORAT) Team! The Special Projects division at DEN is responsible for delivering complex and multi-phased Capital Improvement Programs, including the Great Hall Program, Baggage Handling System Modernization and Recapitalization, Consolidated Rental Car Facility, and the North Terminal Expansion. These mega projects are critical in supporting future passenger growth at one of the largest and busiest airports in the world. This position will support the DEN Special Projects ORAT team with coordinating and executing ORAT activities for all Special Projects portfolio. The position will report to the Director of Stakeholder Communications and Operational Readiness. The successful candidate will play an important role in creating a seamless and efficient transition for the various projects within the Great Hall Program.

Specifically, as the Senior Project Manager, you will:

  • Project Plan and Coordinate: Support the development of ORAT plans as well as the execution and coordination of the plans through meetings, site walks, etc.

  • Transition Management: Support the turnover of projects by tracking attic stock and transmittals to stakeholders, compiling O&Ms and assisting with operational guides for stakeholders.

  • Risk Management: Track risks and challenges associated with the airport transition and developing mitigation strategies. Proactively identify and escalate risks to minimize disruptions to airport operations.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders. Collaborate with airport partners to gather input, address concerns, and ensure a coordinated and collaborative approach to design, construction and ORAT.

  • Training and Simulation: Coordinate and support training programs and simulations to prepare airport staff for the transition. Ensure that all team members are well-equipped to handle their roles during the transition period.

  • Documentation and Reporting: Support the ORAT team by taking meeting minutes, documenting action items and developing schedules and trackers to maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of ORAT activities. Provide regular updates to ORAT team.

  • Quality Assurance: Support post-transition evaluations, surveys and lessons learned to identify areas for improvement.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Education requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Business, Management, Public Administration, or a related field.

  • Experience Requirement: Three (3) years of professional project management experience in the related occupational group including planning, managing, and scheduling projects and preparing and reviewing contract documents.

  • Education/Experience Equivalency: One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post-high school education. Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements.

  • License/Certifications: Requires a valid Driver's License at the time of application. Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment.

Additional Information

FBI Background Check: FBI criminal background check is required for all positions at Denver International Airport (DEN). Employees are also required to report any felony convictions and/or moving violations to maintain this clearance and be eligible for continued employment. By position, a pre-employment physical/drug test may be required.

Snow/Emergency Duties: Denver International Airport is a 24/7/365 team operation. If weather conditions warrant or an emergency crisis occurs, all DEN employees can be required to work extended hours and/or shifts.
