Reporting to the Head of Design & Project Management, we are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Senior Project Manager / Project Director to lead the delivery of large-scale, complex projects in the Olympic and Health Sector from concept through design and construction in Brisbane.
This role will oversee multiple project streams, manage high-value budgets, and provide leadership to multidisciplinary teams while ensuring compliance with safety, sustainability, and governance standards. You will play a pivotal role in driving stakeholder engagement and delivering exceptional outcomes aligned with client expectations and business objectives.
Key Responsibilities include but not limited to:
Lead end-to-end delivery of major projects across all phases: design, construction, and handover.
Develop and implement comprehensive Design and Project Management Plans.
Drive consultant engagement, scope definition, and fee negotiations for complex projects.
Oversee design programs and ensure integration with construction schedules for optimal delivery.
Champion EHS compliance, Safety in Design principles, and sustainability targets (e.g., Green Star/NABERS).
Conduct advanced risk assessments, technical reviews, and quality assurance processes.
Formulate procurement strategies and lead bid conversion and contract negotiations.
Build and maintain strong client relationships, managing high-level stakeholder expectations.
Oversee financial governance including budgets, cost forecasting, and variation approvals for multi-million-dollar projects.
Provide strategic leadership to project teams, fostering collaboration and innovation.
Manage stakeholder engagement strategies and ensure effective communication protocols.
Liaise with authorities for approvals and ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
Conduct site inspections, monitor subcontractor performance, and resolve escalated issues.
Promote innovation, buildability, and value optimisation throughout the project lifecycle.
Drive team development, performance feedback, and uphold governance standards
About You:
Extensive experience in senior project management roles within construction, design, or property development.
Proven track record in delivering large-scale, complex projects with high-value budgets.
Experience with Arena, Aquatic or health care projects is advantageous.
Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence at executive levels.
Deep understanding of EHS, sustainability, and quality standards.
Expertise in financial governance, cost planning, and strategic forecasting.
Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
Skilled in managing consultant teams, client relationships, and project governance.
Ability to leverage digital platforms and manage design in a digital environment.
