JOB PURPOSE:

The Sr. Manager of Business Operations & PMO serves as a key leader within the Enterprise Technology Services division, supporting the execution of strategic initiatives, operational efficiency, and enterprise project delivery. Reporting to the Director of Business Operations & PMO, this role provides oversight of various capital projects, drives operational improvements, and leads a team of project and business professionals to ensure high-quality delivery and alignment with the university’s mission and technology goals. The Senior Manager collaborates with senior leadership, functional departments, and technical teams to promote transparency, accountability, and sustainable success in IT operations.

Project Managers, Visual Identity Manager, Project Coordinators

NATURE AND SCOPE:

Internal contacts include administrators, faculty, staff and students both within the department and University-wide. External contacts include vendors.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Project Portfolio Management

  • Oversee the intake, prioritization, and delivery of the technology project portfolio.
  • Ensure adherence to PMO standards, methodologies, and reporting practices.
  • Monitor and manage project scope, schedule, budget, and performance across active initiatives.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks and interdependencies.

Business Operations Support

  • Partner with the Director to manage operational planning, budgeting, and resource allocation across the technology organization.
  • Lead process improvements and standardization efforts across IT administrative functions.
  • Support vendor contract management, compliance tracking, and procurement coordination.
  • Prepare business reports, KPIs, and operational dashboards to support informed decision-making.

Staff Leadership and Development

  • Direct and coach a team of project managers, analysts, and support staff.
  • Set performance objectives, provide regular feedback, and promote continuous professional development.
  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing work culture aligned with the university’s strategic plan.

 Strategic Planning & Governance Support

  • Support the Director in executing the strategic roadmap for business operations and project governance.
  • Provide insight and recommendations to enhance operational maturity and service delivery effectiveness.
  • Assist with the development and refinement of policies, processes, and performance frameworks.
  • Serve as a liaison between IT and university stakeholders to ensure alignment on priorities and expectations.
  • Facilitate cross-functional meetings, briefings, and status updates for leadership and project sponsors.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s Degree and 6-10 years of related work experience.  12 years of related work experience may be substituted in lieu of educational qualifications. Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.

$105,000-$115,000
