Collins Aerospace is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to join the Power & Controls organization. This role offers an exciting opportunity for a passionate engineering professional to take on high-impact responsibilities within a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

As a Senior Project Engineer, you will lead the design, development, and delivery of innovative aerospace components, with a primary focus on jet engine pneumatic valves for both commercial and military applications. This is a unique chance to work at the forefront of aerospace technology while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams that foster innovation, technical growth, and career development.

This position will sit at our Aguadilla, PR location. You must be residing in Puerto Rico at the time of starting employment. Relocation is not offered.

This role is categorized as hybrid, with 3 days onsite and 2 days remote following the schedule assigned by the Manager.

What YOU will do:

  • Lead the requirements management, design, and development of assigned components, ensuring efficient execution across conception, procurement, manufacturing, and qualification.
  • Collaborate closely with multifunctional teams to meet requirements, mitigate risks, and achieve project milestones.
  • Manage project resources to ensure timely completion of all phases.
  • Work with the IPD team to review and clarify customer requirements, ensuring alignment with project objectives.
  • Coordinate with Design, Structures, and Systems Engineering teams to address revisions, resolve issues, and ensure proper documentation and approval of deviations.
  • Partner with design, drafting, structures, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure timely completion of component designs and detailed drawings aligned with production schedules.
  • Ensure design releases meet lead-time requirements to support part deliveries.
  • Serve as the Cost Account Manager (CAM) for assigned components, managing budget, scope, and earned value performance.
  • Monitor financial performance and communicate any issues impacting budget or schedule.
  • Lead evaluation and maturation of new technologies, working with global teams to assess and advance Technology Readiness Levels (TRLs).
  • Support hardware procurement planning and ensure assembly tooling, production definitions, and related processes are completed to meet delivery commitments.
  • Lead component verification testing, including requirements review, test procedure preparation, and coordination with internal or external test facilities.
  • Manage creation of test fixtures, inspection activities, and overall test execution.
  • Review test data to ensure acceptance criteria are met, and prepare final test reports for customer submission.

Qualifications you must have:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience
  • Experience working in a cross-functional engineering environment, with demonstrated ability to coordinate tasks across design, manufacturing, and quality teams.
  • Communication and presentation skills in English (verbal and written).

Qualifications We Prefer::

  • Experience in project engineering, preferably within the aerospace or defense industry.
  • Leadership skills with the ability to guide cross-functional teams and drive progress toward project goals.
  • Experience communicating complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including senior leadership and customers.
  • Experience developing technical documents, reports, and test procedures.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office tools (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Project) for developing reports, presentations, schedules, and project tracking documents.
  • Experience as a Cost Account Manager (CAM) or similar role involving budgeting, earned value management (EVM), and reporting project financials.
