Senior Program Design Specialist - Education

The Senior Program Design Specialist for Education serves as a key member of Compassion’s Program Design and Quality (PDQ) team, which supports impactful child and youth development by providing specialized technical expertise and innovative program design resources.
In alignment with this mandate, the Senior Program Design Specialist for Education will lead the design and support the implementation of evidence-based education interventions aligned with Compassion’s Theory of Change and Global Outcomes Framework. You will provide technical guidance to National Offices across the Latin America and Caribbean region as they develop and implement formal and non-formal education programs in partnership with Frontline Church Partners.
Collaborating closely with Child Protection, Spiritual Formation, GEDSI, and other technical teams, the Senior Program Design Specialist for Education will help ensure integrated, holistic programming. The role also build the capacity of National Office staff and partners to strengthen program quality and ultimately improve educational outcomes for children and youth.
Responsibilities
- Acts as an advocate to raise the awareness of the needs of children. Understands Christ’s mandate to protect children. Commits to and prioritizes child protection considerations in all decision-making, tasks and activities across the ministry. Abides by all behavioral expectations in Compassion’s Statement of Commitment to Child Protection and Code of Conduct. Reports any concerns of abuse, neglect or exploitation of children through Compassion’s internal reporting process and appropriately supports responses to incidents if they occur.
- Works with staff to foster an environment of professional growth, in alignment with compassion’s strategies and objectives.
- Provides expert consulting to National Offices on education programming aligned with Compassion’s Theory of Change, Global Outcomes Framework, and Integrated Sectors Advisory team priorities.
- Contributes to PCA roll-out by developing and adapting education-focused program design resources.
- Leads the design and development of global, evidence-based guidelines for formal and non-formal education, including interventions, standards, tools and resources.
- Ensures that education interventions adhere to global guidelines and program frameworks and provides technical guidance to strengthen program design and implementation.
- Provides on-demand technical guidance and accompaniment to National Offices, supporting the adaptation, implementation, and strengthening of education strategies, needs assessments, and program intervention.
- Reviews Complementary Interventions (CIV) proposals related to education and provides relevant technical feedback to National Offices.
- Delivers on-demand advising and accompaniment to strengthen program quality and outcomes for the education area.
- Collaborates with Child Protection, Spiritual Formation, GEDSI, and other technical sectors to ensure comprehensive and integrated programming for children and youth.
- Supports organizational initiatives by offering program design expertise in education that advances Compassion’s ministry goals.
- Supports strategic collaboration across regional and national teams to enhance shared learning and alignment.
- Works with MERL to design and implement appropriate metrics, methodologies, and tools to assess program quality and impact.
- Promotes evidence based programming and facilitates learning among National Offices and Frontline Church Partners.
- Builds the capacity of National Office staff and key stakeholders in education and integrated sector programming.
- Cofacilitates shared learning in the education domain through the global Learning Exchange Network.
- Networks with like-minded organizations and ministries to identify, evaluate, and recommend strategic partnerships that enhance education interventions.

Requirements
- Professionals in the field of Education. It’s appreciated a postgraduate diploma.
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in education, child development, program design and cross functional collaboration, preferably with an international NGO in Latin America and Caribbean region.
- At least 5 years of documented experience in education programming, creation and adaptation of education strategies, guidelines, and tools.
- Proven experience in facilitation, capacity building and mentorship, demonstrated ability to guide formal and non-formal education interventions.
- Strong familiarity with continuous program design and quality improvement processes.
- Professional use of Microsoft office, Teams, Smartsheet, Miro, and Slido.
- Proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing English and Spanish.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills across diverse cultural contexts.
- Strong teamwork and relationship-building skills.
- Outcome-driven and self- management for remote work from home.
- Availability for flexible working hours to meet global neighbor’s needs, there are some late and early meetings.
