The Opportunity
This position works out of our Lake Forest, IL location in the Core Lab, Diagnostics Division. We’re empowering smarter medical and economic decision-making to help transform the way people manage their health at all stages of life. Every day, more than 10 million tests are run on Abbott’s diagnostics instruments, providing lab results for millions of people.
The Senior Professional Quality (Commodities) will conduct quality-related activities to deliver consistent, high-quality documents, services, products, and processes.
What You’ll Work On
Develops and executes local quality strategies aligned with divisional and business objectives.
Translates strategic priorities into executable long‑range programs, projects, and tactical activities.
Provides compliant, innovative, and practical solutions to complex quality and operational challenges.
Represents the function on cross‑functional initiatives, influencing project scope, direction, and outcomes.
Communicates effectively and contributes quality expertise across one or more QA functions, providing guidance to professionals and technicians as appropriate.
Demonstrates strong knowledge of applicable regulatory standards and ensures compliance with division and corporate Quality System policies and procedures.
Maintains and improves the effectiveness of ADD’s Quality System subsystems and key processes by identifying and mitigating compliance risks.
Supports and drives risk management strategies, making independent, risk‑based decisions aligned with site policies, Quality System requirements, and business objectives.
Reviews and approves supplier risk management documentation and supports quality‑related improvements and investments.
Investigates complex complaints and provides direction and approval for defect resolution related to supplied materials.
Reviews and approves supplier investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs).
Provides quality oversight and approval for mold, assembly automation, and manufacturing equipment qualification activities, and supports supplier monitoring and performance management.
Acts as Process Owner and/or Subject Matter Expert for design control, documentation, and change management activities; participates in internal and external audits and supports major site, divisional, and supplier projects.
Required Qualifications
Apprenticeship or bachelor’s degree in Life Science, Engineering, or closely related discipline is required OR relevant combination of education or experience.
At least 8 years work experience in Quality or related filed experience; Less experience may be appropriate with advanced degree.
Has experience in the health care industry.
Has a history of completing successful cross-functional projects and driving positive compliance outcomes required.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with plastic injection molded components, validation, qualification, change control CAPA and quality engineering.
Experience in using Power BI or other applications to display and monitor key metrics related to supplier performance.

The base pay for this position is
$86,700.00 – $173,300.00In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
