Role Summary
The Senior Product Manager – Technical (PM T) is a senior individual contributor role responsible for defining, delivering, and continuously improving highly scalable, secure, and resilient technology platforms at Mastercard. This role operates at the intersection of business strategy, customer needs, and complex technical systems, acting as the primary product owner for platform capabilities used by internal and external customers.
The PM-T partners closely with software engineering, architecture, UX, Technical Program Managers (TPMs), and market-facing product teams to translate business intent into technical execution. The role requires deep understanding of distributed systems, APIs, microservices, runtime operations, and data flows, combined with strong product sense and stakeholder leadership.

Key Responsibilities
Product Strategy & Vision:
• Own and evolve the product vision.
• Understand customer journeys and business use cases, translating them into scalable technical product strategies aligned to Mastercard’s global platform ecosystem.
• Contribute near-term (quarterly) and longer-term inputs into platform roadmaps, ensuring alignment with enterprise and product priorities.
Backlog Ownership & Delivery:
• Own and manage a well-groomed product backlog, breaking down business requirements into platform requirements, features, and user stories with clear acceptance criteria.
• Prioritize backlog items, make trade-off decisions, and align delivery with business value, technical feasibility, and operational health.
• Partner with engineering teams to ensure timely, high-quality delivery using Agile / SAFe practices.
Technical Leadership:
• Develop deep expertise in the architecture, dependencies, interfaces, and runtime characteristics of the systems you own, including operational and support considerations.
• Confidently engage with engineers, architects, and TPMs on topics such as APIs, microservices, cloud platforms, CI/CD, scalability, performance, and reliability.
• Use runtime metrics and production insights as feedback loops to drive backlog decisions and continuous improvement.
Stakeholder & Customer Engagement:
• Act as the primary liaison between market-facing product managers, engineering teams, and other internal stakeholders.
• Advocate for customers by understanding their workflows, pain points, and integration needs, ensuring solutions are intuitive and self-service where possible.
• Coordinate cross-team forums to identify feature-level opportunities, manage dependencies, and drive alignment.
Documentation & Operational Excellence:
• Own and maintain product and platform documentation, ensuring it is clear, accurate, and easily consumable by engineering and partner teams.
• Enable self-service support, reduce operational overhead, and partner with support teams to improve run-time stability and efficiency.
• Support release readiness, acceptance of delivered stories, and post-release performance validation.

Skills & Experience
Required:
• Strong experience in technical product management or product ownership within complex, large-scale technology platforms.
• Solid understanding of distributed systems, APIs, microservices-based architectures, and cloud technologies
• Proven ability to write high-quality user stories, define entrance/exit criteria, and manage a platform backlog.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to influence across teams without direct authority.
• Experience working in Agile / SAFe environments and collaborating with globally distributed teams.
Preferred:
• Hands-on background in software development or systems analysis.
• Experience with payments, financial services, or regulated, high-availability platforms.
• Familiarity with operational metrics, logging, and performance monitoring in production environments.
• Product Owner or Agile-related certifications.
